3. Lawyers can often take easy cases like this pro bono or at a reduced rate. Even all cities have legal representation to people who can't afford it otherwise so to them it's free

4. Cases like this don't go before a jury, they go before a judge

5. Bail is refunded once a person's innocence is proven

1. Only if its under a certain amount. If you bought more than that amount, you can face additional charges. Additionally, if a cop is willing to break the law to arrest you for this, what would keep him/her from planting additional drugs on you during the arrest?
2. You are correct, however that would just mean if you were found guilty you'd be released for time served. You still must await your trial date.
3. Lawyers usually only take on headline cases pro bono so that they can get their name in the papers and earn more later on. Public defenders are usually, not always, lawyers who are bad at their jobs and cannot get hired elsewhere. Furthermore, they tend to be the most over worked out of any criminal defendants. To rely on them is to basically rely on someone you maybe will meet three times before the trial.
4. It would depend upon the state/jurisdiction as each has their own rules; furthermore you always have the right to demand a jury trial if you so wish. But, most judges are former prosecutors (but not always). Additional, as former prosecutors they tend to have a bias towards the prosecution and police.
5. You are correct that it is refunded once you're found not guilty, however, you still have to find the money or put up something as collateral. I personally am lucky to have a few hundred dollars in my bank account due to college costs.

I am too, and sorry if some of my own biases flared up doing the debate. Lets just say I know someone who was arrested for a crime he couldn't have committed because he was with many people/friends. It still took 14 months for the trial, all of which he had to wait in jail because of his families economic situation. He was found not guilty but he was never the same. Of course it was for a crime of a much higher level than just buying some weed.

You may get paid for work missed but seriously, If you actually need to buy weed from someone other than your normal connect, then you ain't exactly "big ballin". After you finally get out of jail, the reason you were in there is now public record. Anytime you apply for that job you really want and they do a background check, guess what, your stay in jail will show up. Moral of the story is . . . only deal with ppl you know. If a stranger comes up to you asking if you want to buy. Say hell no and avoid the shit storm that ensues.

That's true, but it depends on what kind of illegal act it is. Female cops can pretend tha the are whores and when somebody buys sex from them, they can arrest the buyers. 'Cause it aint illegal to sell sex, you illegal to buy. It's pretty fucked up.
