the main difference between mg 42 and mg3 is the caliber mg42 is 7,92x57 and mg3 is standard nato 7,62x51

Mabye, but the technology is the same as the MG 42, and it`s called MG 3 not MG 43.

While it's design is primarily the same and you are correct about that except for a few changes it is named the MG43 :) And i doubt anyone would want to screw around with a classic 42 as to cook food in it as cool as it sounds.
