When I was in school, I was a member of the Light/Sound crew for the auditorium.
Most thought we were nerds, but really we were a bunch of stoners.
We had the keys to the theater, and some were "masters", but few knew this.
We could access many places we should not have had access to.
Like one of the main power rooms for that end of the building (main office was across the hall from the main auditorium) Also, in that room was the main amp rack for the schools intercom and phone system. (anyone guess where this is going yet?)
At one point, the cheerleaders were doing a fundraiser for a trip they wanted to go on.
Most of the rest of the school thought they should pay for it themselves, instead of seeking donations. When they started begging for $$$ during the morning announcements, after about a week, enough was enough. Now, having access to the dimmer bay for the stage, and lots of spare parts to keep the old thing running, I was able to build a variable load, to safely overload and trip the breaker that fed the intercom system. All it took was a long extension cord, dropped though a hole where a pipe used to run between floors. Could pop the breaker, and be long gone before anyone knew we were there! They never did figure it out. Some had their suspicions, that these and other "mysterious" power failures were not so mysterious after all. But there were so many passages, tunnels, and pipe chases interconnecting the buildings, it was like being a tunnel rat. We once watched the principal and some teachers walk right over us thru a grate in the floor trying to catch us after another "outage". They found the auditorium closed and empty, and every member of the crew in the class they were supposed to be in, and the keys were stored where they were supposed to be. (duh, we made copies) My one friend and I were never missed, as no one knew that there was a floor hatch in the store room off of where the senior photography dark room was. Teacher never missed us!
