I consider anything from the 2000s to be modern since the genres and GOOD artists haven't changed.

Check out Metric, The Joy Formidable, Yuck, Ida Maria, and The Max Levine Ensemble.
And I know a lot of Funnyjunk likes metal, so check out Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Ghost, Teseract, Between the Buried and Me, and Voyage in Coma.

For sure there is some good modern songs out there. Most of them are just catchy tunes with ****** meaningless lyrics. To me it seems that the modern music industry is based on making money and not passion for the music.

Here's another thing, We will only know the GOOD songs form that time era, and think about how many songs you guys are talking about, and the music style tends to change every 10 years or so. So think about it and when we are older and are in a new Decade of music we will be remembering the Good songs from today (though they may be few/not heard of give it time)
/end rant

I personally like Eminem. Everyone has different music tastes. Some people do like the Rebecca Black song or Justin Bieber. I personally don't enjoy them very much but do I have to legit HATE them? Just don't listen to it. It's the hate that got them popular. Just like Stickdick's comment, I don't like that Foo Fighter song specifically but it's his music taste.

There is other music out there besides that which, in my opinion, is terrible. For example, Arctic Monkeys or Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are two good bands that are passionate about their music.

Really, this post again? First, its not 100% of this generation listens to mainstream pop or whatever you may call it, and second, it's not all bad if you actually listen to it, for example Adele is one of the most popular singers right now, and even though it's not really the type of music I listen to, I'll admit she's a damn good singer
