The Continental Army, founded June 14th 1775, was disbanded shortly after the end of the Revolutionary War for which it was created because of the widespread fear of a centralized military. Today's US Army saw it's start with the first Legion of the United States. The Marine Corps was suspended, but not disbanded, making the first and longest existing US military component.

and theyre all navy and marines...which is a branch of the navy.....hahahahahahahahahahahah knew it
The Navy and Marines both are under command of the head of the Department of the Navy but are two separate entities. The Marines work in cooperation with the resources of the Navy but are under no circumstances under Navy jurisdiction. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you menstruate on your keyboard.
