you go for the area right behind the shoulder where most of the vital organs are. The heart, lungs, liver, and other things to bring a deer down quickly and cleanly are located there. Most hunters aren't assholes and hate to see their prey in pain. I've killed at least 7 deer in my lifetime and I've never done anything that compares to this.
