Even though I still think of it as the 9, I joined with the imperials cause of a couple of reasons.
1. If Skyrim were to become independent, nothing would stop the Aldmeri Dominion from going in and conquering it.
2. I appreciate the acceptance of all races
3. Skyrim becoming a single nation is exactly what the Thalmor want so they can conquer it with little effort (General Tullius states this before his death to Ulfric if you join the Stormcloaks)
4. General Tullius and the Empire secretly hate the Aldmeri Dominion so a second great war with them is inevitable, the Empire needs all the strength it can get
5. It's the Empire of Tiber Septim (Talos)
