Remove spaces. There are [url deleted] sites which all cite specific studies into worms' ability to survive submersed in water with sufficient dissolved oxygen content in it.

However, worms will suffocate in standing water after they have consumed all the readily available oxygen in it, unless they are able to get out of the water, because worms CAN'T separate hydrogen and oxygen (neither can fish, but they're usually in water with plenty of dissolved oxygen in it). It's like putting a person into a sealed room, eventually all the pure oxygen will be consumed leaving nothing but unusable compounds.
