Imagine a religion where you had to smoke pot as part of your daily ritual. I would join that.

This was deemed illegal by the supreme court case Oregon v. Smith.
A native american man tried to sue the govt. due to the fact he couldn't smoke Peyote, which was a controlled substance. The man's defense was that Peyote was part of his religion. The supreme court case still dismissed it.
this ruling created a limit on the free exercise clause.
