What is your disability?

It's not so much a disability more than it is a series of random events that has yet to be fully explained in the medical field. I have something called P.A.N.D.A.S. I know, it's an awesome acronym and you're jealous now.
It stands for

But I got it not from Strep but from Pneumonia because I'm amazing.

It's like rheumatic fever but in the brain. Anti-bodies designed to kill thins such as strep or pneumonia for example can sometimes attack the basal ganglia which controls movements, emotions and such in your brain in lieu of the actual infection they're supposed to fight. This is what sets off the symptoms of P.A.N.D.A.S. which includes (but is not subject to) O.C.D., Petite Mals and tics. It's hard to explain really but that's the scientific definition anyway. Still developing of course. Most doctors don't even believe it.

It's really hard to be trapped in your mind like that with no one there to help you out. I was 16 and I was terrified, but P.A.N.D.A.S. typically shows up in kids, I can only imagine what it's like for them. A lot of doctors misdiagnose kids with P.A.N.D.A.S. with autism and put them on really heavy psychiatric drugs which worsen the problem to the point where these kids are institutionalized. It's disturbing but that same fate almost befell me when I was labeled as "Psychotic" in the medical field.

It's hard to explain but this is the basic idea.

yeah i do.my medication controls them pretty well but i still have the occasional one from time to time.i hate waking up with them(only time they happen is waking).Funnily my older step bro has recently been diagnosed with grand mals and hes like a 5 foot stick.so we are like opposites.i have petite mals and 6 foot and muscly and a lil chubby.lolz

I lived in the hospital for one year where I was crowned Princess of Intensive Care (not a good name to have). I was subjected to many tests, some I never even heard of before. I was in a drug-induced haze for the better part of my 16th year by the end all the doctors seemed to look at me and say "Nope, she's nuts." They started prescribing all this medicine for me and sent me off to be psychologically analyzed.

My mom was terrified by what they were doing to me and took me from the hospital. I stayed out for a year but the idea was implanted in my head that I was faking that doubt really started to attack my mind. I always thought it was weird that I couldn't control my arms, that I lost the ability to handle anything normally and so it wasn't hard to convince me that it's possible I may be faking for attention.

My mom noticed the change in my attitude and she took me to see a neurologist. What this man said to me was without a doubt the best thing in my life, it will be something I cherish all through out it. He took one look at me and said "No one would fake this for two years, we're going to find out what's wrong with you." That's when he diagnosed me with P.A.N.D.A.S.. Now I'm on a strict pill regimen but it's much easier than the hospital. I regained enough control to be able to write on my own and handle liquids without fear of spilling everything.

I've never gone a day without twitching and most people believe I will have this for the rest of my life but it's comforting to have my basic functions back under most of my control.

It's my dearest ambition to find children who were misdiagnosed and save them from their minds just like I was saved from mine.

If I was there and I saw you guys laughing I would have said/done something. I hate how people find this shit funny. It's a disability. It's something people are born with. If it's not okay to be racist, sexist, or a homophobe, it's not okay to make fun of someone for disabilities. And yeah on FunnyJunk we joke about those things (Niggers, Women making sandwiches and the constant use of Richard Simmons), but I'm 99.9% sure that those people don't act like that in public, because there will Always be someone to slap the shit out of them. I'm worried about the youngings on here that might actually think it's okay to do/say shit like that in public. Le Sigh

It is not nice when you really have a disability, you virtually open your heart looking for some tolerance, and suddenly a random asshole comes and says 'lulz this is the internet gtfo'.

If she came looking for 'love and tolerance,' the internet (And by that I mean sites other than social networking) was a very poor choice. Perhaps a family member, or her local church.
