I actually laughed at the initial joke by gerdinn but it's generalisations like this that breed ignorance.

There might indeed be more black kids (as a relative proportion to white kids) whose fathers left them but guarantee you will find a much stronger correlation between "socioeconomic status" and "single mothers". It just so happens that a slightly larger proportion of black familys live in lower socioeconomic areas.
