best gun for zombie apocalypse - pistol with a large mag(could find pistol rounds in any store)
best melee weapon - aluminium bat(hard enough to crush skulls and has good reach)

Umm.. Actually, don't go for the head. Go for the spine, or the upper chest. Why? Becaues bullet probably can shatter a spine, but it is hard to hit a head. Ever played nazi zombies? Notice how you have to take some time to aim for the head, and you don't always hit. Seriously go for parts that would kill it, but headshot are always more difficult.
