Weren't most of those men Stalin killed his own men? Still, very bad. The thing is though, the German's always get the short end of the stick. They get blamed for WWI when they didn't even start it. I think it was the fact that Hitler was just really racist. We Americans who actually know the Soviets were a big part in stopping the Germans, the few of us who do, give the Soviets a nod for that. Then there's the whole Cold War debacle and what not, but I think I'm going too far. Its really because of the whole Aryan Master race thing.

The victors writes history, you said it. They really didn't start it, but they get most of the blame. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the stupidest documents in history. Without it, Germany isn't sent into the worst economic depression the world has ever seen, they don't need a leader to rise up, Hitler never gains power, and WWII could have been avoided. I'm probably stretching this here, but those are my beliefs.

I actually don't think you're stretching it far enough, I blame the french, fucking pussies waved the white flag first chance they got, if it weren't for them the whole "trench warfare" thing wouldn't have started and the casualties wouldn't have been nearly as severe.
Then as soon as the french get friends like the U.K. and U.S.A. they act tough as shit and put the bullshit Treaty of Versailles on Germany, destroying their economy and pissing them off to no end.

That's really not fair, at least if you are talking about WW2. They focused much of their initial defence resources and forces into a massive line of defences that the German's bypassed by invading another country first and using it as a route into France ( if I remeber correctly). They used a route that was previously held impossible, or at least unrealistic for an entire army to use, to slip in past Frances defences and attack it's heart directly.

France's defences, at least as far as it's national army goes, was well and truly done before they really had a chance to repell the invaders. Luckily they had the French resistance to pick up where the army left off, albeit on a much smaller scale and it's true patriots were still able to contribute.

If I'm not mistaken the German moved from Belgium through some forest to get to France. In France's defense, they were able to hold off the German's for a while during WWI, giving their allies time to mobilize, Great Britain thought they would be able to do it again so they would not have to act immediately.
I don't want to fully blame the French. One part of me does, but the other part screams I've never known the hardships of warm, so I can't.

Yeah they invaded through the Ardennes Forrest in Belgium, bypassing the Maginot line of fortifications. The French to be fair, were horribly equipped, and roundly defeated so surrender was the only option. Besides every other country surrendered too except the UK (who retreated from Dunkirque) and the USSR (in Europe that is). But in WW1 France didn't surrender, they just got beaten back to the outskirts of Paris before the UK came to help. Yeah it was Clemenceau (FR) and Lloyd George (UK) who drafted the treaty of Versailles to be as harsh on Germany as possible, while Wilson (USA) cautioned restraint and conciliation. Ultimately, the treaty (economic sanctions) made the depression 1000x worse and German pride suffered massively (blame clause), so like any country in that situation they turned to a strong man for leadership. WW1 started because of defence treaties. Austro-Hungary declared war on Serbia who were allied to Russia who declared war on Austro-Hungary; and Germany declared war on Russia because Germany were allied to A-H... if that makes sense!

To be fair, they held Germany off a while during WWI to give Russia time to act. Only problem is, that Richard Simmonsgot in England before Churchill thought the same would happen in WWII so he didn't act immediately. I wouldn't put all the blame on France, but its really sad that they had to surrender. What can I say though, I've never seen battle.

After WW1 though parts of Germany were given to other countries, so this meant that there were now millions of Germans living in other countries and Hitler wanted to get them back. He also wanted to restore Germany to it's former glory like it had before WW1, as he thought that the Treat of Versailles was too harsh. So you can't put all the blame on Hitler.

Well it's just a matter of opinion. The French had seen the worst of the war and they needed ways to pay off the debts they now owed and because they were just at war with Germany during 1870 to 1871, which the French leader at the time, George Clemenceau had been involved in ;so he had wanted revenge for that war and for WW1. Also Hitler wanted to make Germany great again so he did so yes he did have a reason to invade, to get back those Germans that were now in the slav states. Yes he may have done but it was war and during war you do whatever is necessary to win and he also wanted to untie everyone under one flag, which obviously most wouldn't agree with so the alternate was to kill them rather than persuade them. It depends really, if the Nazi party hadn't started then I don't think the Germans would have gone to war mainly because they'd still be in a depression so they couldn't afford to get involved in another war; but if the Nazi party still took power without Hitler then I still think they would've gone to war. And come on give credit where it's due, we did need the French to win the war.
