Killing millions of people would mean killing many times the population of both cities. The bombs are estimated to have killed about 250000 including radiation deaths. Pearl harbor casualties were about 2,400. Not taking sides, it just annoys me when people exaggerate greatly.
japan bombed a military harbor containing mainly soldiers with a couple airplanes and standard missiles.
You launched TWO environment destroying atomic bombs on TWO major populated cities with MORE innocent civilians than enemy soldiers, may i add that these TWO bombs still have effects on the people of the nation today due to it's high levels of RADIATION. Why can't YOU ignorant AMERICUNTS understand THIS?

A couple Airplanes, mainly soldiers and Standard Missles? Pearl Harbor contained 30-40% of the American Pacific fleet, many INNOCENT military personel and their families whose country had done nothing to provoke the agression of the Empire of Japan. Those two 'environment destroying bombs' you talked about? Yeah, they saved MILLIONS of lives. The Radicals in the Japanese government were prepared to sacrafice every single person rather than surrender, even going to the extent of arresting Emporer Hirohito to prevent him from surrendering. The U.S. Army estimated the casualties of invading Japan would be upward one million people. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few here, and I don't think WE are the ignorant ones here. We continually sacrafice OUR lives to protect the freedom of people who we don't even know and sometimes don't even like us, and you have the GALL to talk about US being IGNORANT?

Hey Japan really shouldn't have attacked us if they didn't want retaliation, also as if you can judge what was right to do at the time you twat. You want to argue that the innocent civilians died in the A bomb attacks, you ignorant bastard have you never heard of the fucking draft, why are those who the government told to join the military better suited to die than those who weren't, those people did not sign up for the job and yet they gave their lives. IT WAS WAR UNLIKE ANYTHING OUR GENERATION COULD EVER IMAGINE, IF YOU THINK YOU COULD HAVE PUT AN END TO THE WAR WITHOUT ALL THE BLOODSHED THAN IT IS TRULY A SHAME THAT YOU WERE NOT IN CHARGE BACK THEN.
Hey MORON how about looking up the facts first?
1. We gave Japan A FUCKING YEAR to surrender.
2. We had no clue about the devastating effects a nuke could bring.
3. We were there within the week helping them out with doctors, nurses, and cleaning up the radiation.
4. People live there now
5. They didn't surrender after we dropped the first nuke.
6. They weren't majorly populated cities.

regardless Japan attacked a country that was not at war with anyone only because they wanted control of the Pacific, it was there greed that cost them, though i do understand that innocent lives should not be lost for war.

it was called total war. if America actually invaded Japan, there would be about 1 million plus casualties on America's side alone; the Japanese would have fought for every square mile, and once they lost, many would commit suicide. America had to end the war, and this was pretty much the only way. But I guess we're bad guys tho; just ask about the rape of Nanking, the prisoners of Japan, and how Japan treated other countries that they were in possession of at the time.

Casualty estimations for continuing the island hopping campaign were about 1 million american servicemen and a similar number of japanese. Collateral damage would have also been immense. Pearl harbor had many civilians as well. However, the japanese military blended its bases in to the major cities, so bombing them also meant bombing people. Not saying two nukes were the right choices, but they didnt just drop them on whimsy to display force.
