EDIT: Never posting on a friday again, think this coulda done better on a saturday

On that note, since I know this has 2 more hours before it expires if the post hits 350 thumbs I'll post my real life picture with one of my birds. And will try to do more video game related content, that is all, thank you ;)

Hey it broke 150 thumbs for 10 days of on and off work and I was actually expecting a lot of "OP is female" responses.

Thing is I don't get I put that much time into it....and then only 11 hours into the other and this got less thumbs, maybe I'm thinking too hard?

Alright I'll sink down to the 4 panel CAD style comics then but I refuse to sacrifice the art. . Thanks for the heads up.

Fffff. My ******* love bird is alway getting into **** when I turn my back. Halie went to pee? Better chew on everything on the book shelf! Get banished to cage. Scream for attention. Get taken out for cuddles. **** this I'm going home. Sit quietly until Halie decides to watch TV. Squak over the whole thing. Get put under a blanket. Find a corner to stare pathetically through. Get blanket taken off. Squak more.

Love birds are funny little ***** , how old is your's? Because if it's not quite sexually mature yet when it is it gets SO MUCH WORSE! Hehe, hope you're stocked up on shreddable toys.

Well, someone found her outside when I was younger after I lost my parakeet and just gave her to me assuming she was mine. She was an adult then, I'm going to assume 2. And I've had her for about 8 or 9 years. So she's about 10 or 11. She's just a brat. A grumpy one too. She's like a cranky old lady sometimes.

I'm a little plump so My tits don't show out as much. There are a myriad of reasons why I'm not a size 0 like everyone thinks a gal should be. I posted my picture up further down if you want to look. Not the most flattering picture but it's there.

She was a perfect little ******* troll, right down to the day she died she was. She'd beat up the dog so only she could sit beside me, she'd steal what ever I was eating and make a mess on everything. Always wanted to play was just everywhere. I'm on a waiting list right now so hopefully if she reincarnates, I might get another shot with her. I think she came from a mill breeder and that's what cost her her life. :(
User avatar #5 to #4 - jlhaehl (10/01/2011) [-]
mill breeder and cost her life??? please explain
User avatar #6 to #5 - parrotgod [OP](10/01/2011) [-]
Exotic birds, unlike alot of domesticated fowls, can only be bred during a certain time of a year and only one time per year. When you alter the light cycle for a bird and put it in breeding season year round you create genetically deficent offspring with poor genes... I am assuming that although she was born in the correct season (Spring) the parents were probably over bred and exhausted since most mill breeders leave the chicks with the parents MAYBE a week or two before pulling and doing the incubation themselves so the parents will start the breeding cycle all over again. It's harder to do than puppy mills since dogs hump anything constantly, but with birds you have to over load their day light consumption, their protein and so forth. And the result is you get a baby bird who can be born with weakened organs, exposure to PBFD or PDD (like aids, cancer, and leprosy all rolled into one for a bird).... and when you pay 600$ for one of these chicks and it DIES within 4 weeks of owning it like my poor girl did it really hurts. If she had come with proper breeding she would still be here.
User avatar #7 to #6 - jlhaehl (10/01/2011) [-]
its really sad animals have to put up with ignorant uncaring humans like mill breeders and puppy mills, i think those type of people should all be put into big burlap sack witha few bricks and thrown in a river, i call poetic justice

As an experienced Avian owner, I want to say she was purchased from a petstore rather than a broker or a solid bird only store. My husband and a roomate bought her for me as a birthday gift to make up for all the **** they put me through year after year taking care of them. The store was kind enough to pay for her autopsy and to reimburse the funds for her and so shall remain nameless. But that's a lot to put a bird owner through.... She was over the warrenty too and the best I could've done is sued them for proving a pre-existing genetic deficiency (She died of an aneurysm) but imagine if she had come from a regular petstore not a big chain one? They would have told me to STFU and leave. Half of my little ones are rescues, and I love them dearly even if they may not love me (two of them totally hate humans because of the previous owners) but I could never think of rehoming them. They would just bounce from home to home unwanted and without bonding to anyone because of the damage done. 5 months old, is too young a death for a little bird who's supposed to live 30 years.
User avatar #10 to #9 - jlhaehl (10/01/2011) [-]
i totally agree, small mom n pop stores usually have way better service or they dont stay in business, i feel foryuor birdie and wished it had a decent chance at life but from your description of its care i can imagine its 5 months were very happy and filled with love, youze is a good person, a damn good person

:) Thank you, I have one last comic I want to do of her little trolling behavior and it will probably be here in the next two months. I still got the Sam B one, and some **** work to do.

Mari went to the rainbow bridge, and was spoiled rotten for the 3 weeks she was here and I can't imagine her being any happier on earth than she could be there. One thing, I didn't want to write in the comic because it's pretty hard to swallow, is the day she died she let herself out of her cage, climbed into bed with me and snuggled and kissed, played with two of my other Fids, Rosie and Tiberious James Kirk (yellow tiel with red eyes and orange cheeks, Tibby is the little rainbow in the middle of the cage) and went to sleep beside me. Or at least I thought she had, when I woke up.... she was no longer with me. I tried to cool her off because her body was hot to the touch I thought she'd died of Hyperthermia (over heataing) and when she wouldn't react I tried CPR...when I realised I couldn't get her beak the rest of the way open to check her air passage I realised she was gone and got to spend a week at the mercy of the pet store worrying they would cover their asses and blame me, tell me I'd crushed her or killed her. Thankfully not the case, but I do have some measure of comfort that she kissed me good bye one last time and went to sleep beside me safe and sound. I don't regret her being here for her short time because of that, I mean, if we hadn't gotten her, she would've died alone in a pet store with no one cuddling her. So as heart breaking as it was, I am grateful I got to love her for as long as I did.
