my theory is that the Mayans just ran out of room on the calander and said to each other "Man people are going to freak the **** out in a couple thousand years hahaha"
Are you stupid, it is not possible to divide by zero, no matter. It is not like sqr-1 where they just made complex numbers, which made sqr-1=-1i there is no such thing as x/0.
Consider Lim(x->0) x/x, or the limit of x/x as x approaches 0. 3/3 is one. 2/2 is one. 1/1 is one. .0001/.0001 is one. Same concept as you approach from the negative side. So you'd expect 0/0 to be 1.
Now consider Lim(x->0) 0/x, or the limit of 0/x as x approaches 0. 0/3 is 0, 0/2 is 0, 0/1 is 0; following this trend, 0/0 would be 0.
So, 0/0 could be considered 0 or 1, depending on how you estimate it.
I just divided my empty coke can with zero; I threw it in the garbage. x/0 is very common and works perfectly. Its just that there is a bug in math that don't let you move things out of the equation.
okay think of it like this;
when you divide you are taking the first number and splitting it into the second number of groups. for ex: 4/2= 2 so you take 4, put it into 2 groups so you have 2 in each group.
now, try taking a number and splitting it into nonexistent groups. can't do that.
...but...
anything divided by zero is zero so if zero is divided by itself its already kinda chooses its fate as zero, cause think about it, 100/0 = 0 so anything divided by zero is zero meaning even further , if x = 0 then x/0= 0 or if following order of operations 0x? or just x but that would mean it would have to be 1/x?????????????????
