9 11 Hero READ DESCRIPTION. See this man right here? His name is Rick Rescorla, He was in charge of 22 floors in the south tower of the WTC. He would never stop

See this man right here? His name is Rick Rescorla, He was in charge of 22 floors in the south tower of the WTC. He would never stop thinking about the weaknesses and the vulnerability of the building. After the company merger in 1997, Rick would do emergency drills twice a year and although people said there was no need for them, Rick would not listen. One day when they saw the north tower hit, he imediatley started the emergency drill and sent down 2 people at a time in an orderly fashion. That day he saved 2500 people and 13 lost their lives, including him. Now I'm not here trying to be a thumb whore at all, but it would be amazing if this got more recognized and got to the front page so more guys could know about this man, There ARE heroes out there. R.i.p to Rick Rescorla and all those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Way to harvest guilt for thumbs, OP. Go **** yourself, I don't have to thumb you up to prove I respect this man.

Thank you, but I only felt the need to speak the truth. It's pretty low to use people of federal service for thumbs, because OPs know we respect most of them, and make people feel obligated to regard them highly, even on FunnyJunk.

**** yeah! 1st Cavalry Division. Hooah!

My unit took a 20 minutes of silence, at 8:45 we were outside in formation, at 8:46 we stood at attention. No one spoke at all. Finally, our 1st Sargent asked us to remember why we join, either to give justice to those who died, or to be a defender for all those who need it.

As sad as it was, I never felt more proud of myself, i never regretted joining. i did it to be a defender, a protector, to do good and never receiving anything in return. 9/11 change me, but for the better.

Thank you, nerdiebernie
For people like you is why i fight harder.

"I'm not trying to be a thumbwhore but this should get front page" If you honestly gave 2 ***** about this brave man you
1) Would not have posted this on a website that rates funny things.
2) And you would have posted this as anonymous if you didn't care about thumbs.

I'm pretty certain I will get thumbed down for this comment but to be honest, I don't really care about the events of 9/11. I mean yeah, it was really horrible to watch but people get so butthurt when people make jokes about it. But lets be real, people in are dying due to poverty, wars, diseases and murders all over the world every day and no one gives them a second thought when they're taking the piss or making a joke. The only reason people seem to think it's acceptable to make an obnoxious argument is because it affected them in some way. I mean, things like cancer have affected my family - you don't see me balling over the floor whenever someone has a joke about it. On the other hand! This guy is a true hero despite what I've said. He risked his life and saved however many people and it all came down to the fact that he knew what he was doing because over the years he took his job seriously - and it paid off. /rant.
TL;DR - Don't care. If you want to know what it says, read it.

But 800 000 of Iraqs population was killes due to Saddam Husseins regime... thats almost 6 times as many as the Non-military Civilians killed in Aghanistan/ Wars. Source: You need to login to view this link

Non-military civilians killed in Afghanistan during Taliban regime...you couldn't even map it on a damn chart...keep in mind this is also from casualties inflicted by suicide bombers its not as if we have run in guns blazing and killed 132,000 people.

These deaths are horrible and I would give my life if it meant this never would have happened but don't you even think for a second that this is all on the United States Military and her allies. Al Qaeda looks down on the Afghanistan people and the Taliban as well, they thought they were superior to them, hence the suicide bombings targeting civies in the country. They don't look at it as collateral damage, they think the whole country is just one big target.

We do pay tribute, who are you kidding? We pay tribute by rebuilding the goddamn country by giving them billions of dollars in aid each year. We even helped Russia when the USSR caved in. We do take responsibility of the casualties we cause, we are aware but the number you are showing here is extremely misleading. We did not kill 132000 civilians. Most of those people were killed by the Taliban! Suicide bombings and revenge killings are some of the biggest reasons for cause of death in Afghanistan. We have donated billions upon billions of dollars to that country and kicked out one of the most cruel regimes in history! I never said american lives are more important and I firmly believe that. I 100% get what you are saying but you are wrong. We have always payed tribute and always will. You post a misleading photograph that you probably pulled off Google images and for whatever reason think you are right without ever have gone to a library and done some damn research! Wikipedia does not count!

Frankly it disgusts me just a little that all Americans expect everyone in the world to bow down and cry for those lost in 9/11 look what we did to japan with Hiroshima do you hear them crying about it today? no, and they are still suffering effects from the radiation. Now THAT was a tragedy not this lame american excuse to go attack another country who didn't want our help.
User avatar #306 to #304 - feredon (09/12/2011) [-]
Yup. I bet the deaths from 9/11 are ten fold those who died in Africa and other 3rd world countries. Not to mention wars, disease and natural disaster

Lives are lives. American deaths aren't more important.
User avatar #312 to #306 - Ibiza (09/12/2011) [-]
I agree, i think i'm having a hard time figuring out if that first part was sarcasm.
Americans feel butt hurt because someone actually attacked us on our soil, which we have done to many countries over the years, we have invaded and killed more people than two hijacked planes could ever hope of doing.
User avatar #325 to #312 - feredon (09/12/2011) [-]
Yeah. America have backed themselves into a corner. Where they have principles and protocol when threatened, and respond with military force. They feel to be the superpower of the world as they "regulate" weapons of mass destruction throughout the globe. And sadly this causes them to feel the right to preview 9/11 like it was the battle oh hastings. A historical landmark if you will

I sympathise for the 9/11 families who were torn apart due to it. But people hate America, and if they want to force 9/11 into our media, then expect jokes and trolls

(And yes it was sarcasm)
