And there is nothing that says mufasa is nala's father...

If you see the second movie you see that Kovu ISN'T Scar's son, he just took him in.

Actually, in the second movie, the funny looking lion from the outsiders pride states that Kovu is not even scars son, and that it is not fair that he will grow up to be the leader of the pride.

uhm... I pretty sure Kovu's Kiara's Uncle. See, Simba's Scar's nephew and Kovu, is Scar's son, which makes Simba and Kovu cousins. Kiara, Simba's daughter, is Scar's Granddaughter and Kovu's niece.
