Actually, The growth difference of the tree seperate where the roots start. :D
Everything above the ground go up, and everything underneath, goes down, and in most cases outwards to prevent the tree from falling over. But nooo, we can't have logic in this argument now can we? ):

you sir, are an idiot. trees grow around obstacles. in this case, the bike and the chain were in the way, thus the tree encased it and, as the tree grew upwards, lifted it. ive seen this before at alot of Abandoned structures. tress grow around fences, poles, chains, other such objects, even gowing so far as to break fencing as it lifts, or begin to pull poles out of the ground. it is how the tree adapts. please do some research. plus, i dont even think lolspoon was being serious....
