- driving around electric car and bashing oil
- has to recharge every 100 miles
- electricity needed comes from main grid
- main grid connected to power generator
- power generator uses fossil fuels like oil

JOKE'S ON YOU, YOU "GREEN" FAGGOT. I'll just keep driving my diesel city car, thanks.

Also, the car batteries used in electric cars are disposed in landfills, where they are EXTREMELY harmful to the environment.

That car is the tesla roadster. It goes up to 400 miles without recharging.
User avatar #249 to #222 - britdude (08/16/2011) [-]
Bullshit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Roadster

And even then, that range is calculated under ideal conditions. Is the world ideal? Nope.

in googles main headquarters, they lend their workers electric cars. they park at an area with a ceiling that is covered with solar panels, that charge so the cars can get energy.

Hydrogen cells are under development, which has 2 outputs: Electricity and water, and you can fuel it up just like a normal car (though you fuel it with hydrogen) And you know, the sun consists of manly hydrogen (turning itself into heavier materials as it burns) So it's not like it's not and efficient fuel.
And I don't know about you, but at least Europe is heading towards 100% renewable energy, In Sweden we have a lot of damns as an example.
But I will miss the sweat roar of my diesel engine

I dont mean to grammarnazi.jpg, but damn is the curse, and dam is the water blockage. I thought it was funny hough so I thumbed :P

Oh shit xD Well what can I say, not the best speller. Though I kinda fulfilled the funny in funnyjunk :P That's good I suppose

Honda FCX Clarity is the only "green" car I support, because its hydrogen generator produces electricity and genuinely produces zero emissions.

Plus, Hydrogen doesn't run out. It's the way forward man.

Exactly.
My Diesel truck's more green than their Electric cars, because I can put just about anything into it, and it'll run. Biodiesel is cleaner than regular diesel.
One time, I ran out of gas on a road trip, so I pulled into a McDonald's, and asked if I could have some of the used oil, they gave me 50 gallons, all I had to do Is filter it. They have to find a special outlet to plug their cars in.

It also probably has a really pussy engine, and a prius could probably beat it in a drag race.

You know what else? Electric motors, particularly under load, produce O3... ozone. And while ozone in the atmosphere is good, ozone in the city is bad. It causes all kinds of health problems. Probably not as bad as CO though.

Lol, not in Iceland. We get all our electricity from hot water springs and waterfalls. It also costs virtually nothing. U mad?

Electricity isn't made by burning oil, it's made with coal. So he can still laugh at oil
User avatar #148 to #147 - britdude (08/16/2011) [-]
Some power generators use oil, some use coal. Others use uranium. But most still use oil.
#150 to #148 - lbriesberg (08/16/2011) [-]
I'm possitive oil is rarely used in the United States for electricity. There are also Dams and solar power too.
User avatar #151 to #150 - britdude (08/16/2011) [-]
Both of which are still horribly inefficient. Solar power only converts at maximum around 20% of sunlight taken, due to the limitations of the chemical process within the photovoltaic cells. Dams aren't bad, they generate massive power, but given the sheer mass of the body of water they hold they could produce more.

In an ideal world a dam could power at least a quarter of New York city. But today it could probably only power a small town, at best.
User avatar #166 to #151 - romanaround (08/16/2011) [-]
you have no idea what you are talking about............ the hoover dam alone powers almost all of Nevada, Southern California, and Arizona encompassing cities like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Pheonix
User avatar #199 to #166 - britdude (08/16/2011) [-]
The Hoover Dam is MASSIVE compared to most regular dams. So obviously it has the capacity to generate more electricity.

But it's not the only generator of electricity in those cities. It supplies some, yes. Are those cities 100% reliant on it? FUCK NO.

That's actually a cool article loosely comparing the cost of electricity to the cost of gas.
