Carlos Slim Helu is the richest man in the world actually
I'm an Atheist, and in no way a Christian supporter.
But, its his fucking hard earned money. He doesn't have to donate it to charity if he doesn't want to.

i would agree if it actually was hard earned money. like it says in the post he gets his money from his salve labor run mines in Africa. He has someone else hard earned money. and if being a evangelist is considered hard work i have lost all faith in humanity.

He's a "christian" preacher though. Not donating to charity is one thing, however, utilizing slave labor in diamond mines? That makes him one of the biggest hypocrites ever, and a huge reason as to why, although the Bible and Jesus are at the very center of my life, I flinch at being called a "christian." Jackwagons like this give that word a knife's edge.
i feel all religions have there good points and there bad points, one of the bad points of just about all of them is the fact that they make you feel that everyone elses religion is wrong and to push your religion on others... this being one of the reason for almost every war in history.
my personal feelings on god is that there isnt one man out there conllorting everything in the world. i think everyone is in control of their own life and world around them. BUT i feel as long as a do good and try to progress myself mentally and physically every day and always try to do the right thing everyday of my life that if there is a god of one religion that he will not care what i believe in but the person i am.

>examples of non-evangelistic religions: Judaism, Hinduism, Jainism etc.

> only one I can think of immediately is the Crusades, and really, that had less to do with forcing others to convert (as is sometimes believed) and more to do with 'lol, do whatever the hell i want, claim it's god's will, u mad?'.
> religious propaganda and religious justifications certainly play a role in the wars of the world
>(see: ww2 japan, roman empire, cold war, english civil war, american civil war)
> that said: religious propaganda =/= religious war
> religious justification =/= religious war
> most wars have more to do with greed and/or fear (eg. we've gotta get them before they get us)

I think people should be good without god as well.
But I'm still a Christin and when I was an Atheist I still did good things.
Goes to show you that its not that religion someone follows, it's their character.

Slave labour aside, is it really incorrect for Mr Robertson to hoard all his money. I mean, he earned it. It's his. Why would he donate to some wimp ass charity which just sits around waiting from donations from God instead of actually doing something to raise funds legitimately, or to some lazy homeless fucks who'd squander the money as soon as they received it anyway. Just sayin, there are other ways of solving a problem other than just throwing money at it.
But yeah, the slave labour is kind of a dick move on his part.

I see what you're saying, and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're wrong. Throwing money at a problem certainly isn't the best way to fix a problem, but when money is all you have that you can give, it's a good move. Rich people are busy people, and cannot donate their time to charities. So they donate their money instead. Does that make them worse people? No. It means they are giving what they can to help out the less fortunate.
And yes, that is a legitimate way for charities to raise money. How else would they earn it? If they got money from something besides donations, they would not be a charity, they would be a business. A business that would donate to a charity. >.>
