Anyone else think the first guy looks like Carl from Up?
#244 - anonymoose (08/08/2011) [-]
This isn't an anti-Christian post. It's saying people don't need to be religious to be good people and that Christians CAN STILL be heartless total douchbags.

never underestimate the butthurt of those with a persecution complex
User avatar #260 to #259 - anonymoose (08/08/2011) [-]
Especially Christians.
User avatar #261 to #260 - atrocitustheking (08/08/2011) [-]
that is what I was implying... yes
persecution complex is rampant in many Christian churches in America (which of course, is darkly hilarious when you think about it).

I'm an Atheist, and in no way a Christian supporter.
But, its his fucking hard earned money. He doesn't have to donate it to charity if he doesn't want to.
#246 to #229 - anonymous (08/08/2011) [-]
I liked the fact that just because OP stated he was an atheist, he got +12 thumbs for putting forth an argument that has already been repeated twice with negative thumbs.
User avatar #273 to #246 - kneesocks (08/09/2011) [-]
Op is a female, not a he. But I didn't evens state that. I was being obvious and people agreed with me, again fuck you anon.
User avatar #238 to #229 - anonymoose (08/08/2011) [-]
Getting money from slave labour isn't hard earned money. Well it is hard earned money, but not his hard earned money.
#237 to #229 - derpthedinosaur (08/08/2011) [-]
I like how you have to explicitly state that you're an atheist or you'll unleash a shitstorm.
Really guys, this is just over the line.
Oh and the post was shit by the way. It's so biased that it's fucking hilarious.
#232 to #229 - omganinja (08/08/2011) [-]
i would agree if it actually was hard earned money. like it says in the post he gets his money from his salve labor run mines in Africa. He has someone else hard earned money. and if being a evangelist is considered hard work i have lost all faith in humanity.
#241 to #232 - derpthedinosaur (08/08/2011) [-]
IF it was true. I have doubts.
#230 to #229 - anonymous (08/08/2011) [-]
He's a "christian" preacher though. Not donating to charity is one thing, however, utilizing slave labor in diamond mines? That makes him one of the biggest hypocrites ever, and a huge reason as to why, although the Bible and Jesus are at the very center of my life, I flinch at being called a "christian." Jackwagons like this give that word a knife's edge.
#225 - bransonwt (08/08/2011) [-]
I'm an atheist and this is a horrible argument.

I hope you don't expect christmas presents every year
User avatar #245 to #243 - bransonwt (08/08/2011) [-]
>implying that capitalismas is not a better name and that anyone actually celebrates a religious aspect of it anymore
User avatar #254 to #245 - atrocitustheking (08/08/2011) [-]
Plenty of people do. Christmas as an orgy of capitalism is a pretty uniquely American thing (correct me if I'm wrong).
User avatar #268 to #254 - bransonwt (08/09/2011) [-]
In that case i apologize for making an incorrect assumption.
User avatar #269 to #268 - atrocitustheking (08/09/2011) [-]

i feel all religions have there good points and there bad points, one of the bad points of just about all of them is the fact that they make you feel that everyone elses religion is wrong and to push your religion on others... this being one of the reason for almost every war in history.

my personal feelings on god is that there isnt one man out there conllorting everything in the world. i think everyone is in control of their own life and world around them. BUT i feel as long as a do good and try to progress myself mentally and physically every day and always try to do the right thing everyday of my life that if there is a god of one religion that he will not care what i believe in but the person i am.

quote: "just about all of them is the fact that they make you feel that everyone elses religion is wrong and to push your religion on others"

> first, Ba'hai and Unitarianism
> second, that's called an evangelistic religion. Not all religions are evangelistic.
>examples of non-evangelistic religions: Judaism, Hinduism, Jainism etc.

quote:" this being one of the reason for almost every war in history"

> only one I can think of immediately is the Crusades, and really, that had less to do with forcing others to convert (as is sometimes believed) and more to do with 'lol, do whatever the hell i want, claim it's god's will, u mad?'.
> religious propaganda and religious justifications certainly play a role in the wars of the world
>(see: ww2 japan, roman empire, cold war, english civil war, american civil war)
> that said: religious propaganda =/= religious war
> religious justification =/= religious war
> most wars have more to do with greed and/or fear (eg. we've gotta get them before they get us)

HOLD THE FUCK UP. If Warren Buffett pledged to give 99% of his money to charity, he only keeps $1 out of every $100 he gets. And he still maintains his third richest person in the world title? HOW MUCH DOES THIS GUY MAKE. TELL ME YOUR SECRETS.

I think people should be good without god as well.

But I'm still a Christin and when I was an Atheist I still did good things.

Goes to show you that its not that religion someone follows, it's their character.

AGREED we can all be atheists, or Christians, protestants, sheikhs, or any religion really, and still be Good Guy Greg's right?

Slave labour aside, is it really incorrect for Mr Robertson to hoard all his money. I mean, he earned it. It's his. Why would he donate to some wimp ass charity which just sits around waiting from donations from God instead of actually doing something to raise funds legitimately, or to some lazy homeless fucks who'd squander the money as soon as they received it anyway. Just sayin, there are other ways of solving a problem other than just throwing money at it.

But yeah, the slave labour is kind of a dick move on his part.
User avatar #210 to #199 - nicecontentbro (08/08/2011) [-]
I see what you're saying, and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're wrong. Throwing money at a problem certainly isn't the best way to fix a problem, but when money is all you have that you can give, it's a good move. Rich people are busy people, and cannot donate their time to charities. So they donate their money instead. Does that make them worse people? No. It means they are giving what they can to help out the less fortunate.

And yes, that is a legitimate way for charities to raise money. How else would they earn it? If they got money from something besides donations, they would not be a charity, they would be a business. A business that would donate to a charity. >.>
User avatar #208 to #199 - Alicegotchained (08/08/2011) [-]
He's also a dick because he helped fund that Moral Majority bullshit. So he can go shove a cactus up his bull shit, fake morals.

#201 to #199 - anonymous (08/08/2011) [-]
Who says that the charities are just sitting around waiting for money? Also, they could keep the money. The point is that they are going above and beyond what is expected of them. To some people, that makes them a good person.
