i don't think it matters if jkr said he was gay. it was a book. dumbledore isn't even real and nowhere in the book could you have deduced he was gay. if you want him to be gay, then he his. hell, you could say harry was bisexual and had a crush on ron and settled for ginny with absolutely no evidence. it's just what story you want.

False, actually in the seventh book to be precise, the letters written by his brother did insinuate that he was with Grindlewald for numerous years. Now what they were doing is up to the reader.

It was also said that Grindlewald knew about Dumbledore's affection, and used it to have Dumbledore as his ally, and did not return the romantic side of the relationship, but they were still friends.
