ten america fun facts

1) the U.S. government has accumulated a national debt that is rapidly approaching the 14 trillion dollar mark.

2) Today, 10,000 people make 30% of the total income in the United States.

3) Approximately 57 percent of Barack Obama's 3.8 trillion dollar budget for 2011 consists of direct payments to individual Americans or is money that is spent on their behalf.

4) Americans now owe more than $849 billion on student loans, which is more than the total amount that Americans owe on their credit card

5) since 1979, manufacturing employment in the United States has fallen by 40 percent.

6) one out of every eight Americans is enrolled in the food stamp program

7) The U.S. government has made some parts of Arizona off limits to U.S. citizens because of the threat of violence from Mexican drug smugglers.

8) nearly half of all Americans now use prescription drugs on a regular basis.

9) Millions upon millions of good paying middle class jobs are being shipped off to China and they are never coming back.

10) Students at a high school in Missouri have built a car that they claim can get up to 450 miles per gallon. On another note, some of the top energy experts in the world believe that thorium could solve our energy problems and supply very cheap energy for society for hundreds of thousands of years. But in today's world technologies such as these are endlessly suppressed by the rich and powerful.

I live in Missouri, and please don't get me started on it.

I live in St. Louis, and you wouldn't believe the society-based segregation. It's terrible.

Also, they want to build a cargo hub at Lambert International Airport and to do so they'd have to cut millions from tax budgets, including 8.55 million (pretty much all) from Senior Citizen Benefits and Aid.

Oh, and, at any given time, there's something like 25%-40% of the city under or undergoing construction. I've lived here all my life, 18 years, and I can't remember a moment where highways, streets, or whole sections of the city were under construction.

Then there's the fact that surrounding counties of St. Louis city are broken up into 12 distinct mini-cities capable of their own taxes/laws. That makes pretty much anything money-wise complete **** to work with because our city is so broken up. The terms are also confusing. I live in the St. Louis county, but on forms I can put St. Louis City. So, technically, I live in STL County, but legally (atleast on official papers) I live in STL city and county, sometimes just one or the other.

Oh, lol, lastly, our education system was such **** that the state took over...

Oh, wait, one more, our public transportation is absolute **** , and they pretty much even tell us this. We have a metro, the metrolink, but a lot of people refuse to use it because the cars are so unsafe, even during metro rush times.

There's a reason people call Missouri "Misery". I do like the countryside of Mo though, but StL....love-hate it.

I liked the Percy Jackson series ;_;

But, then again, I love to read in general. It sounds really ****** , I'm sorry. If you visit San Fran, I'm sure the LGBT people would help de-stress you. In St. Louis, we're usually pretty laid back, and really care about people, and I'm assuming San Fran is similar. Except with a bridge and not an Arch.

If you do come, it's lovely to visit really, but living here is...eh.

Also, wtf is up with all the thumbs downing? I've seen it on almost every page. Someone is being a failtroll.
