lol, well the images that people seem to have these days ARE 'idols' and we shouldnt have them, but a lil thing happened back in the middleages, where the rome was losing power, so in order to keep power, they invented the catholic church. over time the church decided to make money as well so they brought about these things such as pergatory, and relics and things like that (which clearly arent biblical at all), and charged fees to see the relics and sold 'indulgences' to get time off pergatory etc etc, and pretty messed up the whole church systems that should have been in place that jesus disciples began. so anyways, because of the huge mess they made back then, its still effecting things that happen today, such as sunday worship, people worshiping idols, but these things clearly should be happening. personally, as a christian, i strictly follow what the bible says, not what religions say, cause in alot of cases religion beliefs are flawed. but anyways... hope that enlightened you a lil bit on the whole idol worship thing :P

Christians see Jesus as a legitimate idol, Catholics see the cross as an idol too which in my opinion is quite stupid seeing as though it symbolises the DEATH of Jesus

um no, to quote exodus 20:4 'You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea'. notice it says 'you must NOT make for yourself an idol of ANY KIND' lol, so clearly we shouldnt have images of crosses etc etc, but sadly we do...

The people that have crosses are the dumb Christians (Catholics), the smarter Christians such as Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons don't have any idols AT ALL, they study the Bible more and find the real meaning of what it says unlike Catholics

well i kinda agree there, except id say that the mormons etc have accepted the truth about idols, where as catholics havnt, which is something that seperates them. but you see, theres alot that mormons and jehovah's witnesses believe still isnt according to the bible, so those churches are definitly not perfect either. just putting that out there.

I guess you could interpret it in many different ways, but still, JWs and Mormons are the only ones who actually knuckle down and study the Bible unlike many other branches of Christianity. You'd expect them to know what's best

i guess you could say that, but dont JW's and Mormons have their own books as well to go with the bible?? so its not just the bible they live by, but their own writings as well.
but ya know,if you are saying they should know best, then id actually have to say the Seventh Day Adventist church knows whats best, or at least they know more than JW's and Mormons, because you say they dont worship idols, which is one of the 10 commandments, but what about another comandment concerning the sabbath? do they follow this commandment also? well as far as i know they all worship on sundays, dont they, so in that case they do not. the bible clearly says saturday, the seventh day of the week, is the sabbath, the day god set aside as a day for us to rest, and to spend time with god. as far as i know, the SDA church is the only church that believes and follows, as a whole, all the 10 commandments, including the 4th commantment concerning the sabbath. so if your arguement is that JW's and Mormons should know best because they dont worship idols, then i say SDA's know best, because they keep all the 10 commandments.
just one more point, ive studied the end times and prophecy all my life, but reciently ive been doing a study about it with a SDA guy, and id have to say the studies hes given me have been the most accurate of all. i mean this whole secret rapture thing, thats a load of rubbish, and the antichrist, and the mark of the beast is definitly what everyone thinks it is, but thats a whole series of bible studies to get to know that one. SDA's have definitly hit the nail on the head when it comes to prophecy! so in terms of keeping the commandments, and prophecy, i rekon, and this is my opinion, that SDA's should know what's best.
but please dont get me wrong, im not saying SDA's are perfect, i can see many things myself thats wrong in the church, but i cant be stuffed going there, but when it comes to what the SDA church believes, they've got it pretty good.

hey i never said the bible doesnt speak against homosexuality, because it does. but what i was saying was that god DOESNT hate homosexuals!! the bible clearly says that god doesnt. it says homosexuality is wrong, and that it is a sin, so if gayness is a sin, well so is most other stuff we as humans do (according to the bible), so if gods gonna hate homosexuals because they sin, then he may as well hate everyone and just blow us to smithereens or something. but god, as the bible represents him (especially in the new testament), isnt angry and doesnt hate like these protesters seem to portray him as, and thats why im saying 'some "christians" just dont seem to read their bibles these days..'

However, the Bible does contradict itself in many things. It doesn't contradict itself on the matter of homosexuality. It is very clear

hang on a minute, you obviously didnt read what i said. i said the bible does speak strongly against homosexualtiy, it says we shouldnt do it, but thats for god to say not people. but if you've ever read the new testament, you will see how these 'christians' should be reacting towards homosexuals, following jesus' example. you see, what these guys are doing is pretty much throwing stones at homosexuals, as the pharasees were gonna throw stones at the prostitute. those guys are acting like pharasees, but you see jesus, he stood up for the prostitute, and he displayed love, not hate like the pharasees did. and what i really hate about this picture is the signs say 'god hates fags' because he doesnt, god does not hate the homosexual person, he may hate the fact that he practices homosexuality, but he doesnt hate the person himself. jesus did not hate the prostitute, he may have hates what she practiced, but he did not hate her as a person. and jesus is the exact representation of god, so if jesus doesnt hate a prostitute, or a fag, then neither does god.
so these guys in their shirts and signs are really misrepresenting god, they are being pharasees. you know if those guys would display love towards homosexuals, it most likely would have a greater effect than what they are doing, because what they are doing is just making homosexuals hate them back, but if they loved them as jesus did, then the homosexuals would be easier to, perhaps, persuade that gaynes isnt right.

there is so much wrong in that statement I don't even know where to begin.

1. If you're not a christian why do you use the bible as protection for your beliefs?

2. so saying that you can't touch women on their period, or killing them if they're not a virgin when they marry, or forcing the burden of raising a child on woman is not speaking against womans rights

3. what the hell do you have against gay people?

I'm not using it as protection for my beliefs, I use it to correct people who use the Bible in the wrong way or quote it wrong
