just fyi starting second year in college i would like to point something i wish i knew in high school was that ap classes are for the most part useless waste of time. here's why, first high school teachers don't actually need a degree in what they teach sometimes not even have to minor in the subject they become teachers because they majored in teaching, the main difference in college is your professor know what the fuck their talking about and not pulling it out of a teacher manual. second ap teachers have a habit of getting high and mighty about being and ap teacher and like to think their a real professor when their not but they try and give a shit ton of work like one. third colleges don't care about ap courses unless you actually get straight A's in them so if you can get better grades in a lower level class do it. also colleges will not give you credit for an ap class applying to your major like bio ap class won't get counted even with a 5 on the exam if you happen to be a bio major. all ap classes get transferred as a 100 level course usually which basically means its not worth the work. last half the shit you learn in those ap classes is either outdated or just wrong and will just fuck you over in college because i took a bio ap class in reality did not help that much with a real biology course. sorry for length but i just rage remembering all the wasted time i spent with gt and ap courses in high school when they really meant shit to a college.

Surely AP classes have some merit! Like, if you're an AP kid you'll be more considered for acceptance into certain colleges, correct?

That was really informative, but shit is hard to read when you don't fragment a single sentence. A wall of text.
