No religion = no consequences / kill whoever you want, rape whoever you want, steal whatever you want, just don't get caught. if there was no religion then we would probably still be in the stone age maybe the middle ages. All the great minds and philosophers that developed our art and technology, such as Leonardo da Vinci, would have pissed some one off and gotten killed before they could accomplish anything significant. Or they would have developed a totally different mind set in order to survive, and not invented anything.

religion is not the problem and i say that as a non believer. religion is simply the excuse we use to kill others. if religion did not exist we would find another reason to kill our fellow man. it is wrong to use anything as a reason to kill including religion. human kind is destined to destroy itself before we are wise enough to see the folly of our ways.

Well, this goes back and back to the colonies. Jamestown, Virginia was the first american colony made. Then separatists seeking religious freedom were planning to go to Jamestown, but due to the close arrival of winter, they had to make a settlement. These fine pilgrims made the mayflower compact and agreed to stay out of the Virginia West India Co's borders and start the colony of Plymouth. Then, after hearing the success of the pilgrims, more colonists decided to go for the America's, creating the colony of Boston, Mass. People like Roger Williams and William Penn did not agree with the religious rules and they went on to form Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. More colonists with different religious beliefs formed new colonies. HISTORY PWNED

Yes lets imagine for a minute there was no religion. No pyramids in Egypt, no Davincis Last Supper, No Sistine Chapel, No ancient greek statuary or temples, No genetics (Gregor Mendel was a priest), No Astronomy( Copernicus and Keppler.) No Bach(wrote almost exclusively for litugical music.) Yeah that would be great.

what does astronomy have to do with religioon, yes at first they were looking for the gods but Galileo was probaly an athiest beause he went against the church by stating the earth went around the sun, he never made this pulic because he would have been killed, any christian at that time would not begin to think to go against the church

You of course realize that the Church kept alive the sciences for many years and many scientific discoveries were made by monks like Copernicus, and many of the great thinkers were subsidized by the Church. It is only comparatively recently that zealots, like yourself, have tried to drive a wedge between science and religion. Science teaches you how to understand the mechanics, religion teaches you why.
