I have no problem with A7X, except for the fanboys who claim that the Rev is the best drummer of all time, and that A7X is unmatched in musical talent, both of which are not true.

I'm 100% sure you didnt listen to those songs, or you'd realise those drummers are a hundred times better then "the rev".

I listen to all of those songs and all of those bands including A7X, and they all are great drummers. If he was as bad as you say he is, he wouldn't have been in a famous band. Stop being stubborn and just accept that he was a good drummer.

I have accepted he is a good drummer. Tho I find it insulting to hundreds of other drummers to say he's the best, as he clearly is not.
And really, but musicians can play in good bands. Talkin heads drummer for one. He sounds like an off-beat drum computer, programmed in a keyboard, but they're one of the few who made it in the rock industry.

i dont think you can really group a7x into one genre because they have such a wide range of songs. like how their first two ablums (sounding the seventh trumpet and waking the fallen) are more hardcore and screamo, and then city of evil, their self titled album, and nightmare are alt metal.

And aside from all that, you should know that the term heavy metal is an entitlement for all different sorts of metal. Metalcore is just another form of heavy metal.

You said avenged sevenfold is not metalcore, while their first album very clearly was metal core. Their other albums were also very clearly hard rock.
Thus, stating "They're not metalcore, they're heavy metal" is double bullocks, first cause they are metalcore, and second cause metalcore is actually another form of heavy metal.
and, like I said before, their secon-last albums had nothing to do with heavy metal at all, for they went hard rock.

rock would be 3 Days Grace or 3 Doors Down, metal would be Disturbed, and heavy metal is Avenged Sevenfold. because of the growth of the metal/rock tree's types of music, the genres rock and metal/heavy metal went from being a very general idea of music types to much more definitive kinds of music. i mean, a few years ago you could consider A7X a rock band and something as heavy as Cannibal Corpse heavy metal, but now with all the different styles and names for music types, the more crammed genres like rock and metal got emptied and replaced with things that wouldn't seem to fit if you were looking at it from a perspective of a few years ago. well, that's what me and everyone i've ever talked to who listen to any form of rock and metal all agree with, and thats the good majority of people i know. but oh well, i guess you know everything so nevermind.. what you say is law.. not like this is opinion based, anyway :l

nope, defining genres is indeed not opinion based. And defenitions of genres also do not change as times changes. Every type of music, genre and sub genre has its defenition. So there's no point in discussing about it.
I can understand someone not being sure if eluveitie is folk, viking or pagan metal, but really, even doubting if avenged sevenfold is rock or metal is just a little retarded.
They themselves even admit to being rock, so I dont see why so many of their angirls keep saying they're metal, while they very very clearly not metal.

oohhhhh 'mediocre'.. definitely, uh... definitely read that wrong. but still, the most primary forms of metal are metal, heavy metal, metalcore, deathmetal, crunchmetal, deathcore, thrash metal, and maybe a couple that i forgot. but because of the every growing tree of metal, the really heavy stuff is moved to the heavier genres, bands like AX7 are put into the genres that a few years ago something as crunchy as Cannibal Corpse would have gone into. so, yeah, to most they would be considered heavy metal. now they are, at least. I mean a couple of years ago maybe not, but now, yeah. and personally that song by Atheist sounds cool and all, but the drummer isn't.. THAT.. good... compared to other artists, yeah, but he sounds the same if not lower than Jimmy.. or even Shannon Lucas.. i mean if you want to hear a gifted drummer, look up the guy in Behemoth, or Neil Peart. @_@ holy shit, man.
