The song is clearly about letting down your walls revealing your true colors. Peacocks are notoriously colorful and therefore symbolize "colors" or a person's inner self. This true self rests behind walls created out of fear that someone will reject it. Ms. Perry wants her man to show her who he really is, behind his defenses. Hence "let me see what you hidin' underneath." Letting down you defenses and showing someone who you really are requires bravery, especially for dudes. Hence the requirement to be "brave"
