Heat causes things to expand. No doubt it would be warmer in the castle than the unheated hovel she lived at. Overtime the shoe would expand and, grow larger making it not fit.

The Golden Gate Bridge is only a foot longer *at most* during hot weather.

Perhaps, whilst made of glass and the ball taking place in a palace where candelliers would have candles (lightbulbs would not be around at that point) the heat expanded the glass slipper and it fell off, contracting back to its normal size once it changes back? Or she is a dumb bitch?
