God gave man the power to choose. If God prevented all evil, wouldn't he have to take away our ability to think for ourselves? He knew that by letting us love him by choice that many more would fall by the wayside, from criminals to other religions to those who simply have a faith in no god. Atheism is a religion, too, for it is the belief that there is no god. People with no religious preference wouldn't care if there is a God or not, are are certainly welcome to give God a try. While evil does happen in the world it was caused when Adam and eve ate of the fruit, which is because of Satan's trickery. The bible says that death entered the world because of that.

Epicurus, your argument is invalid.

33 AD is a little late in the game. Atheism is as old as theism which is much older than the mostly young faith known as Christianity

The Bible does not say God gave man Free Will. In fact, quite the opposite:

1. God knows all, therefore all is known, therefore no free will.

2. All things are according to God's plan. (Whether for good or evil)

If we could not commit evil acts then we would have no free will. Without free will life isn't worth living. God gave us free will so we can live the best we can.
