I too like the rap. Lil' Wayne is not rap, nor is most of the stuff on the radio. I could rage, but I'll just stop.
Lil Wayne isn't really rap. I mean, he's about as much rap as the Jonas Bros. are rock. Yeah, he meets certain criteria(speaks in a relatively quick rhyme scheme over a beat), but by that standard, Jonas Bros are just as good as.....Pantera? I like Pantera, we'll go with them. After all, they have a drummer, guitarist, bassist, and sing in a rock format.
Lil Wayne is more "hardcore pop" for the white kids who wanna pretend that they're thugs, but would never step foot outside of suburbia, or walk near a ghetto.

He actually says he is hip-hop not rap. I go to a very diverse school and its really only blacks that listen to him. I listen his older music, I admit. Before his album the skys the limit (the one in this pic) he was actually pretty good.
If you brag that your school is diverse, it's no where near as much as you try to convince yourself, regrettably. And trust me, you don't wanna argue real hip-hop/rap with a New Yorker. Especially one from the Bronx.
Lil Wayne really only has an appeal for the people who wanna pretend they're into rap, but don't want to understand it. His entire career is based off repeating the same lyrics several times, each time changing one word, or making countless metaphors that has no correlation or relevance to what he said before, nor what he's about to say. Yes, I'm a hip hop/rap fiend. Yes, I'm a rock/metalhead.

When the weather gets colder, I seem to gravitate more towards rock. But once it hits summer, I'm back to being a rap fiend all day and going to pretty much every free concert around here. Korn and SOAD are pretty cool. Preferably, I'm a huge Breaking Benjamin, Mudvayne, Stone Sour, and Muse fan.
I would like to thank all of you for the ridiculous amount of replies to my comment. Really, Lil Waynes audience is diverse, and therein lies the danger. Because so many people find him appealing, radios play more and more of his music and music similar to his, and more artists try to be like him. This is why I will forever despise him as an "artist".
