Man, I'm tired of all the "missionary" christians who try to force their Im I'm tired of all these christians forcing religion on everyone. I'm christian but I feel that there is no point in trying to talk atheists into being christian. All it does is make us look like control freaks and douches.
But I'm kind of being a hypocrite now. I'm tired of the excuse that so many atheists use: "Why would god make all this evil happen if he loves us so much?" he doesn't make evil happen. He just let's us have choice. None of the evil in the world is made by god. Only by man. God lets us have have choice so that we may praise him of our own will, not be little praIsing robots.
#89 to #70 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
so..... an all-knowing God created us... then gave us a "choice" between him, and hell.. knowing that many of us will either not understand, or never hear of Christianity...

..not to mention he apparently gave us the ability to create evil, knowing that many would choose to do so...

..yeah i'm a pretty solid Atheist.
#73 to #70 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
If God is almighty than he would stop the evils in the world, either that or he's just sadistic, why would you want to worship a sadistic god? And if he does not have the power to end all evils, then he is not almighty, therefore he is not a god.
#81 to #73 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]

#71 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
Ten bucks says this gets attacked, but...
For the love of God, these are extremists. These people do not represent the majority, and you can find ignorant and close-minded people on both sides of the fence. All you have to do is take ten minutes out of your day and look.
#87 to #71 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
I take it that you are a Christian but not an extremist.
Now I don't mean to be bashing on you as you would not do so to me but isn't it odd that in your religion (assuming) that the one that everyone worships so much has had a kill count of 2,391,421, while Satan has a kill count of 10 which in truth was also with God's consent. Is there something wrong there
User avatar #88 to #87 - cursormortis (12/16/2009) [-]
If you want to be technical, assuming omnipotence, God has a kill count of everyone who has ever died up to this point in time. If we assume the omnipotence attributed to the Judeo-Christian god, we must also assume omniscience and inherent perfection. Therefore, this god knows what he's doing, and he must have a damn good reason for it.

Also, you fail to note that those 10 (assuming you mean Job and family) were a test, and that they were presumably believers, which would make their deaths a reward.
#90 to #88 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
I was not counting natural death and i am directing this towards the christian religion. And as you were right to assume it was indeed Job i was referring to, good job for knowing. Too bad that it was Job's test and not his family's test. they died to see if HE was faithful. And to take it all away over a ******* BET is ridiculous. Congrats, your god had rewarded him by proving his point by taking everything away just to give it back at the end. If he was as omniscient as believed he wouldn't have needed the bet to even prove Job's loyalty in the first place.
User avatar #92 to #90 - cursormortis (12/16/2009) [-]
Ah, but who ever said that he needed to prove Job's loyalty to himself?

Also, who ever said that every word in the Bible is true?
#93 to #92 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
It has no matter to who he had to prove it because in the religion God's word is above all other, why prove it to the devil.

And you can't half believe the bible ass its a package deal, you can't read the new testament and pretend the old testament didn't exist, the world doesn't exist where your ignorance can cloud up all the faults in front of you
User avatar #96 to #93 - cursormortis (12/16/2009) [-]
First off, sorry, mistyped before. I meant to say "Who ever said every word in the Bible was literal?" As for the package deal thing, that may not necessarily be true. The Bible was not set in stone by the hand of God. It was written by men inspired by God (or who claimed to be) and was copied over and over. It was also written 2000 years ago, which means some of the stuff there may be a bit dated. Or do you really think that I have the right to sell my daughter into slavery because I believe a man died to save me? Interpretations of the Bible differ, and those interpretations form our beliefs.

Second, why not prove it to the devil? What would give a flawed human the right to question an omnipotent and omniscient god?
#103 to #96 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
The bible was created from the world of god and although it is possible to get lost in translation it is very unlikely that the world's top selling book would be misinterpreted. And as far as its meaning it has indeed kept a lot of it, if you are helped by someone you are indebted to them, the daughter could be a metaphor to show how important your debt is. The bible was suppose to be a moral guide for people in a time without guidance, not what it is today.

Job was stated by god to be a perfect specimen unflawed and loyal, one who feareth and obsceweth him. Why put the perfect toy in the blender?
User avatar #106 to #103 - cursormortis (12/16/2009) [-]
Christ says "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." (Luke 6:31) He also says "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39) And then there's "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:17)
How many Crusades? How many televangelists? How many people profiting from the message of God's Word or using it as a justification for hate and war? And you're going to tell me that this book has not and will not ever be misinterpreted by humans that it even says are sinful from before birth?
#108 to #106 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
There is no such thing as misinterpretation for a book that is defined by a personal interpretation. I bet you wouldn't eat the fried back of a live baby seal but it is done so in China, i bet when u drink milk you enjoy the taste and may even have a fond memory of milk in your past while other look down on us for drinking it from a cow while others take it from goats. Things are easily interpreted by culture even Hitler had the best intentions when he had done what he did, Your perspective may be no different or maybe completely from all others.
User avatar #112 to #108 - cursormortis (12/16/2009) [-]
"Hitler had the best intentions when he done what he did"
Oh, that's a good one. Right. That explains why he invaded Russia, or let the British escape Dunkirk. Protip: when trying to make an example, sympathy towards Hitler tends to fall rather flat.

As for a misinterpretation of the Bible, I daresay it is possible to misinterpret it. Especially given the above verses, which are very representative of Christ's recorded words, and the fact that people have then gone on to murder, rape, and loot in his name.

Please note that I am not blaming the religion or Christ for this. I am blaming the people who claim to follow the religion.
#116 to #112 - anon (12/16/2009) [-]
That proves his point jackass, hitler did it for his country not everyone else's if everyone did something for the sake of helping everyone we wouldn't have religion

Don't worry #48, us Atheists (least most i've met) understand that not all Christians are fundies.

This comic is not making fun of Theism, it's just exaggerating the frustration many of us have felt debating close minded fundamentalist over the internet.

I know it's geared towards Atheists, but honestly, anyone with a rational mind should find this comic funny.

but all Christians believe in an invisible man and think atheist will burn in hell for not believing what you do, and yet still think their god is loving and just. just because you don't shout about it, your believes are still as immoral and bat **** crazy. the fact you don't shout as much as these idiots maybe shows you realise just how unjust and imperfect your god is.

Christians are going through what I like to call "Christ Guilt" Its like "White Guilt" in the way where a lot of people are noticing the major flaws in religion (the biggest one being Christianity). So everybody who attaches them self openly with christianity is being slammed down HARD. It doesn't matter if you are just a normal person who works their job, pays their taxes and goes to their church every week, or if you are one of the crazies who will camp outside Washington D.C. for 2 months because "the gays wana ruin our way of life". You will be bashed.

God isn't real, The earth was created from multipule meteorites colliding making enough friction and heat to gain gravity, thus adding more material to get pulled toward it (such as GASES, METALS, CHUCKNORRIS)... then over many years the outer crust cooled and Ozone was Created by the Gases and Chuck Norris telling the earth to have an Ozone..then the radiation from the sun+Gases+ChuckNorris slowly made bacteria and we eventually Evolved from that... Then Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked ADAMS rib out to make EVE, He then ****** EVE, then MEGA ROUNDHOUSED her into the sky where she Split into all different Religous ppl, where they then wrote the bible... AND THATS A FACT!!!!

wtf is wrong with that guy? everyone isnt born christian, I'm 15 and I'm Atheist. you cant prove god exists and you cant prove he doesnt, there is a scientific reason for almost everything out there

no. atheist is someone who doesn't believe in a religion.
An agnostic is someone who says we can't prove either way.
#17 to #9 - ichirinnohana (12/15/2009) [-]
im an agnostic and i just think that all this arguement between religions is just retarded, you cant force someone to believe in a god or a higher way of life or a life after death.
all these arguements are futile, they will only ever lead to wars.
