ACTUALLY that is one of the biggest mistruths in american history. the civil war was not about slavery and never was about slavery. it was about the right of the states to remove themselves from the union. and lincoln did not free the slaves--the emancipation proclamation was only a piece of propaganda, because it applied only in the confederate states, where lincoln had no power.
