Because Nickelback is not rock.

there's a difference between making good music and fitting a genre

I think it's more along the lines of "using skrillex as an example of dubstep, is like using The Beatles as an example for rock" no, neither are really that specific genre, but they kinda guided it to where it is now.

skrillex did not guide dubstep to where it is now.. skream, benga, magneticman and lot of the original english dubstepartists did

uhm.. yeah they did a good percentage of it. But, have you not heard a lot of big name artists bass synths? A lot of them started using growl basses (like skrillex) and than knife party is responsible for the Lasers and ****. lol They pretty much all help and learn from each other.

havent actually lisented to dubstep for many years, or well 5-6 years, and back then skrillex was a nobody... but ye ur right i guess... but still imo skrillex havent added anything good to dubsteb.. imo the old stuff with the classical music mixed in over is way superieor to this new BS blender with screws in it "music"

Yes. Hate to sound like a hipster, but the good dubstep was the stuff from ukf circa 2009 or so. With an actual discernible rhythm and bass and lyrics.

go and listen to original dubstep(like loafah/old skool skream etc) and you'll realise skrillex and all those transformers having sex "death growl" are not dubstep

If he's smart enough to recognize that Skrillex isn't regarded as a "pure" example of dubstep, he should certainly be smart enough to know that deadmau5 doesn't generally make dubstep.

I really like Flux Pavilion.

I heard about them when I started playing the EA remake of Syndicate, since I was looking for the soundtrack.

Also, the game is pretty good. 8/10

what people think making dubstep is like:
"ill just press the 'make music' button on my computer"

what its really like:
actually making music.

Here is the difference between dubstep and most other music. Sure they are making music to a degree but they aren't writing music and they aren't showing if they have any musical talent.

Except you don't need to know how to play any instruments, you just use samples and vsts and make the music, I agree that you cannot just start up fruity loops and start making music instantly all those programs are complicated and complex.

i play guitar, after you have learned enough playing cords and scales it comes to a point where its second nature. in any case, you still have to know about music, and have creative talent to make it. if you can't make good music, then no amount of samples or synthesising will mask that.

Agreed, even though the technical side is very important, if you dont have any understanding of music theory, chances are your music is going to come out sounding like ****. Skrillex - First of the Year (Equinox) [Classical Piano Arrangement] This guy in the video does classical arrangements of a lot of Skrillex, Zedd, Madeon, and Deadmou5 tracks and I think it really shows that there's more to the music than grinding sounds and bowel movements.

Skrillex is not dubstep. He's said numerous times that he doesn't make dubstep. His music is made up of different sub genres of EDM including dubstep.
Not all EDM is dubstep, either.
