According to my observations the Great Mushroom War would have to have occurred some time in or after the 80's, preferably after the year 1982.

The reason for this is
-Simon Petrikov's singing of the them song to the sitcom Cheers.
-In numerous episodes pieces of modern and advanced computer technology are seen and/or interacted with by characters. Anything ranging from video recorders to VHS tapes, less than modern to more than modern computer technology (Floppy Disks, computers eerily similar to prototype Macintosh computers, advanced holographic technology, gaming systems both stationary and hand-held, and of course BMO and all other Mos)
-Numerous transportation devices (Or parts of them) are seen or referenced throughout the show, boats, cars, outdated and modern aeronautic devices, trains, UFOs, rockets, etc.
-Numerous pieces of war scarred architecture are seen throughout the world as ruins or are used by characters throughout the show, two notable examples are the Lich's lair (An abandoned subway station), and the Turtle Princess's library
-Numerous pictures seen throughout the show seem to depict somewhat modern landscapes or events, some show modern city skylines, and one picture in "The Creeps" has a marking in the corner "8/18/12"

So in accordance with the fact that 1982 is the earliest limit that the war occurred and if we are all willing to use the 2012 date gathered from "The Creeps" and fast forward a thousand years (In accordance with the commonly mentioned fact that the Great Mushroom War, which brought adventure time into its post-apocalyptic state occurred 1000 years ago) the time span of this show ranges from 2982 to 3012, PLUS 3 years to count for the fact that the show has been in existence since April 2010 than the adjusted timeline is 2985 to 3015.

I just thought you guys should see this. As a forward this is MY observations and is in no way canon and is merely speculation. I would also enjoy some of your FunnyJunkers thoughts as well.
