Why would nintendo want to create the 2DS anyways?

It is so people who can't afford the 3ds can still buy and play 3ds games. Also parents are scared to buy it for younger kids because of the whole "children under 7 may have seizures if they hit the 3d switch thing". They are releasing it alongside the new pokemon, so it is actually a super good idea marketing-wise.

Reggie flat out said its a cheaper alternative for people less than 7 year olds who's parents didn't buy them the 3DS either because of the health warnings or it was too much.

Plus it's launching around the same time as pokemon

Yup. Still, its $40 cheaper. I suppose for some families, that may be enough incentive for them to buy it; but if I were to buy it I'd rather just shell out the extra money to get - you know - the iconic feature of the product. Plus, I'm not liking the design. Looks rather unwieldy.

Ah well.
