I'm fairly positive it might actually be partly because of the way they catch said fish, they create a net of bubbles, to trap them in, and that could just be said bubbles, rising to the surface.

i believe thats actually krill, and while im not sure what animal it stands as, i think it closely resembles a cross between plankton and shrimp....

could be completely wrong and making an ass of myself but meh

humpback whales eat fish
they surround them asa group using bubbles to keep them all in one place, and when they're made a big ball of fish, they rise from below and eat them
