The fun thing about this is that it's more creditable than actual creationism. We got pictures of it happening and in motion as well.
Something creationism people have never been able to produce.

Y'know, while it is absolutely ridiculous that you got -400 thumbs for this comment, I can sort of see why. It came off in a way I don't think you intended, where you tried to make a joke but it just fell really flat and came off like a serious attack on religion which while running parallel to the message of the content runs counter to it's execution.
A good analogy would be someone making a really funny joke about the act of
gay
sex, and you interrupted that laughter by making the comment, lightheartedly, that "man, those fags sure are dumb!" thinking that it was gonna keep the laughter going longer but instead it ended up playing out like a bad car accident.
I know this comment comes a bit late, but I am wandering random roll links right now so I ended up here purely by chance.

Judging by the amount of "neckbeard" comments, it seems that FJ doesn't actually know all that much about atheism, and can't tell the difference between a
troll
, a "rebellious" neckbeard, and an rational atheist making an actual point. Tell me, can anybody actually argue with his point, or just make fun of him?

Funnyjunk:
-loves atheism
-rapes atheist with red thumbs when he makes a valid point because "it's not welcome here, you're being militant"
-lets OP reach frontpage when he basically makes the same joke in his title
Look, I'm not going to comment on who's right an who's wrong, but you guys do realize that you're just continuing the stereotype of the warring, silencing, intolerant creationists, right? Do you want to help that or not?

The FJ definition of militant atheist seems to be anyone who criticizes religion, regardless of validity or whether or not they are actually atheists. Or someone who just mentions they are an atheist. Also there is no difference between a regular atheist or a militant atheist

Um no, pointing out a small thing about a gif does not make you to a douchebag. Claiming someone is a militant atheist without knowing what type of person he is is being a bit of a douche.
Pointing out a flaw in a religion is also a good thing. It'll make those who don't think actually think for a bit and it gives the opposite side a chance to try to counter the argument. Scientist tries to poke hole in other theories every single day and they just do it to learn stuff.

Definition of religion:
Faith in a greater purpose in power, often accompanied with a doctorine.
No where does it say "ignorant of facts". Faith means to believe what you believe in.

Religion makes claims. People poke holes into those claims.
Religion makes claim of a super natural being but have never been able to prove that he exist.
So treating it as science is not all that far fetched. If others don't want to get upset they need to find a religion that isn't silly.

I'm fairly agonstic, but I completely disagree with you here. You referenced scientists poking holes in each others theories; however, if you truly were a man of science you would understand that just because something cannot be proven does not inherently make it false. Many theories rely on ideas that are currently impossible to prove.

The only thing that feels powerful for you is your own ego because you think this entire universe was made just for YOU. That is why you feel powerful. That is why you want more of it.
There is nothing supernatural about it. You're just feeling more important than you really are. One of them being that God made us in his image. God is a man and I'm sure you're one as well.
If a God really existed or if something super natural could ever happen Science would have found out. Things just doesn't be all around us with no trace of it. Specially when it's a super intelligent being that knows everything.

You should not treat science as indefinitely factual. Science and its laws are re-adjusted time and time again so what you think is true in one edition of a textbook would change dramatically in the updated versions. Though fewer in number, there are holes and mysteries in science we have not discovered yet and ideas not fully proven to be correct. As rational thinkers we all need to be open- that is, we don't disregard the 1% possibility of the alternate hypothesis. We cannot prove whether a greater being exists but we sure as hell can't prove the other way around, at least at this moment notwithstanding probabilities.
This is coming from a medical student and Christian.

you really think religious people are all that egotistical? that they think the universe was made just for them? how about you pull your head out of your ass and try to look at it from another angle.
religious experiences are not about that at all. they are about personal enlightenment. sure, it is centered around the individual, but then again. your own world does not revolve around every single person on earth
