A crow is a type of bird. Ravens are crows. Just like the bald eagle is an eagle.

That's Corvids, not crows.

So you've got Pythons, you've got Boas and you've got Anacondas. All three are fairly famous varieties of constrictor type snakes. All three are subclasses of the Boa. Same applies to Crows, Ravens and Magpies.

Oh man theirs tonnes. Bluejays and Carrions and less famous examples. Also it's Jackdaw not Jackal, close but no cigar.

It's spelt with a W, Jackdaw. Say it with me now! Jackdaw.

Basically Jays and Magpies and that sort are Corvidae, Crows and stuff are Corvus. Jays and Magpies used to be a part of the Corvus but with the discovery of new species they were given their own genus. I have a guide to Australian birds open on my lap right now so don't try and correct me because you'd be wrong.
