Awesome! What school do you go to? I was in Job Corps doing the advanced culinary program in San Francisco a few years ago... nothing awesome, but it was a good experience.

It's actually just a community college since I'm still in high school. I'm trying to get a degree there before I graduate.
User avatar #78 to #71 - amuro (07/07/2013) [-]
i agree, that is really, really cool. Please, post a photo of the cake when finished and let me know

Good luck, mate!

Thanks, hun! The moral support really helps.

That's pretty cool dude. Post results, and I'll thumb. I made a five-piece Pac-Man cake for one of my projects-- a Pac-Man, of course, and the four ghosts. I lost the picture on my old hard drive, but damn if it wasn't cool.

I definitely will. I would have loved to see a Pac-Man cake. It sounds difficult, though. :o

Not very, actually. Made nine circular cakes, then six square ones of the same diameter, layered them, cut a quarter of one of the circle ones out for Pac-Man, then used a circular cutout on the extra piece to make the yellow dots. Cut the other ones in half for the tops of the ghosts, cut the squares in half for the bottoms, cut out the bottom of the squares to make the little ghost feet, then CAREFULLY put the half-circle and rectangular pieces together. I had to get a little help with the icing itself (I'm a better baker than a pastry guy) but I got it together just fine.

Video game cakes would be a really fun business to get into. I'd definitely buy that if I saw it. XD

I think there's a market for that kind of stuff in some of the bigger cities. If you're thinking about going to culinary school and want to just bake, there are plenty of baking and pastry schools out there.
User avatar #80 to #77 - pikininja (07/07/2013) [-]
Yeah, that's why I'm trying to get a culinary degree ASAP. XD Then when I actually go to college, I can get a business and graphic design degree, then maybe make nerdy stuff for Comicon, Fanime, or whatever's out there.
Do you have your degree?
User avatar #86 to #80 - kanatana (07/07/2013) [-]
I've got a culinary degree, for what it's worth I never went to college, though I'm trying right now. Do yourself a favor: Do college and get yourself a good job, THEN when you've got your life together, and you still want to cook or bake, take night culinary courses. Because I promise you, cooking right out of the gate is tough work.
User avatar #90 to #86 - pikininja (07/07/2013) [-]
Thanks for the advice! I'm a sure a business degree is pretty versatile, so hopefully I'll have options!

Dang skippy, my friend. Another option is taking online colleges while in culinary school, but that can be just as exhausting-- and more troublesome-- than both schools at the same time.

He's not wrong.

Honey has been a medicine since ancient history.
It contains antioxidants which removes damaging radicals in the body, soothes throat, and assist in digestion.

the more you know.

^^^ the best natural cure for a sore throat is boiled ginger root tea with honey. ginger is an anti-inflammatory and will help reduce swelling.

One of the funniest movies I've seen. Saw it four times in theaters and several times since I bought it. If you haven't seen it make sure you do.
