I bought Dark Souls today and have never played it before, I can honestly say I have never cried to hard in my life. I was expecting it to be hare but this takes it to a whole new level.

Yeah, it is not that bad after you beat it once or actually know what you are doing.
User avatar #65 to #57 - Johnsfer (06/11/2013) [-]
True to that, you go from beating the game in 10 - 60 hours to beating it in about 2 hours sometimes

I've beaten Dark Souls around 6 times or so with a Mouse and Keyboard. The controls really aren't that bad as people say. I installed the Mouse Fix and everything was perfect.

Remember, if you don't have the master key you're gonna have a bad time.
User avatar #147 to #96 - yuukoku (06/12/2013) [-]
I didn't even entirely kow that I was in Blighttown and got to the bonfire down there. Partially because I was screaming and running my bitch ass away from the giant bugs. Also, I had the rusty ring somehow along the way going back to the asylum without getting the master key...
User avatar #149 to #147 - thisotherdude (06/12/2013) [-]
You don't need the master key to get the rusted ring, but you can use it to completely skip the catwalk area and go directly to the swamp, run your ass to the bonefire, and then go **** up Quelaag.
User avatar #151 to #149 - yuukoku (06/12/2013) [-]
I could have skipped the ******* catwalk!? That part was insane! the only reason i got past that is because I fumbled off of it and somehow survived a big fall somewhere near the bottom.
User avatar #154 to #151 - thisotherdude (06/12/2013) [-]
Yup, go to new londo and take a right, go up the spiral staircase, use the master key to open the gate, now you'll be in valley of the drakes. Almost instantly to your right will be a little wooden bridge leading to a cave, basically keep going until you hit the wooden area and keep going down to the water mill things, ride that down and boom. You're in the swamp right next of the bonfire, you just completely skipped blighttown.
User avatar #155 to #96 - whywouldyoudothis (06/12/2013) [-]
I can't find if this was posted already.. but you don't need the master key for the shortcut, just cut through valley of the drakes.
User avatar #160 to #155 - thisotherdude (06/12/2013) [-]
Plus why not get the master key? It's the only gift worth getting.
User avatar #173 to #160 - whywouldyoudothis (06/12/2013) [-]
Depends on how weird you are with challenge runs... Mainly the ones where none of the starter classes have the weapon I need to use for it... then It becomes a game of murder the Asylum demon with fire bombs then run around without weapons like an idiot until I find my weapon... it's pretty much the best plan forever.

Also The path without the master key is through Valley of the drakes via Darkroot basin (The elevator behind the black knight near the glass crest), I never considered running all the way through new londo to open it... mainly because that is silly.
User avatar #177 to #173 - thisotherdude (06/12/2013) [-]
Huh, I generally avoid Darkroot basin so I wasn't aware there was a path through there... Then again I generally avoid Valley of the Drakes too.
User avatar #182 to #177 - whywouldyoudothis (06/12/2013) [-]
Generally though Master key is the best gift if you're not doing some weird challenge related thing. I can't even argue with that. Just pointing out the random other way for people who don't have it... because no one should ever have to take the legit way through blight town more then once.
#184 to #182 - thisotherdude (06/12/2013) [-]
And no one should ever try to take on Bed of Chaos the legit way either.

User avatar #157 to #155 - thisotherdude (06/12/2013) [-]
Only way to get through valley of the drakes is through the master key path or new londo, and **** new londo.
#98 to #96 - lordpancake (06/12/2013) [-]
God I was so pissed, I never thought to even go that way until my last playthrough. I'd always gone master key but always went through the sewers to get to blight-town. I knew of the path and everything it just didn't click. That was my last playthrough of it too, haven't gone back since.
I'll go back and do it again before 2 comes out but god damn, that made me cry so much.
User avatar #100 to #98 - chainsawdick (06/12/2013) [-]
You could just run through it..
I've only been through the top part of Blight Town ~5 times and it was a lot easier for me to just run through it all instead of fighting anything.
#105 to #100 - lordpancake (06/12/2013) [-]
It's the ******* trolls man. *smack* Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Though, I will say nine out of ten times it isn't the enemies killing me. It's those damn ledges. I hate ledges. With a passion. Well, more so they hate me, but it's all the same.
User avatar #107 to #105 - chainsawdick (06/12/2013) [-]
I die more by the ledges than any enemy as well..
Honestly, the NPC's aren't all that smart anyways.
#59 - alawabidingcitizen (06/11/2013) [-]
Literally one hour ago, I was trying to get out of Blightown after fighting Quelag, but I had no idea where to go afterward and I hadn't played in like a week, so I had forgotten where I had come in from (I passed the time assisting others in killing her, getting sunlight medals in the process). Eventually, I get bored and decide to explore around for a little bit, see if I can get lucky and find my way out.
To spare you all from the bore of the rest of this, lemme skip to the end: I went the absolute opposite direction from where I was supposed to go to get out (the easiest way, I later discovered), got killed by the ******* trash giants or ogres or whatever the **** they are and lost nine humanity and the vast quantity of souls i had collected from online play and my wanderings.

Needless to say, I was a little bit ABSOLUTELY LIVID.

Dark Souls easily takes my favorite game award. Play it all the time, hyped for Dark Souls 2, but in all honesty, I don't understand why people think it is so horrifyingly difficult. Sure you will die...a lot, but it's just trial and error.
I lived through the gargoyle terror, I soloed biggie smalls, and dodged my way through artoria's repetitive swings. The game's not hard, you just gotta pay attention.

and try not to hold on to a large number of souls in one life
User avatar #181 to #120 - Sockopolis (06/12/2013) [-]
You see, it isnt difficult, but the generic gaming audience doesn't like actually having to pay attention to succeed in a game. Therefore, all of those people say "UGH SO HARD."
While all of us avid players are saying "It took me 4-5 days tops to get the hang of this, and it's the most friggin fun game ever."

Looks like the same kind of game but with new combat styles (dual swords have a more defined combat style apparently) and a cleaner look about it. I'm really excited about this.

(Hopefully maiwaifu will be in this one >:3
