Drinking is bad. It's a weakness. I hate the people who go to parties and can't have fun with their friends without alcohol. It's pathetic that they can't enjoy themselves at a ******* party with all their friends without needing to drink. Or the people who hide in a bottle from their problems. It's just a crutch. Man the **** up and deal with your problems. Life is hard, man up. You wont find any solutions to your problems at the bottom of a bottle, they're still there when you sober up. It's also horrible for you body basically like drinking poison.

I hate to feed the troll here, but...

While drinking in EXCESS every time you're with your friends is probably not a good thing, having drinks with friends is a cultural thing. In our society, a "beer with a friend" is a social catalyst. I can't tell you how many times I've sat down in my living room with a couple buddies and a pack of brews and had some of the most intelligent and enlightening conversations of my life. Didn't get drunk, didn't even get a buzz, just had a beer with friends.

So what I'm saying is get the **** off your high horse, learn a thing or two about alcohol, and talk to me when you've graduated middle school. No one here cares about what you heard in your health class after your teacher was done explaining what that dangly piece of flesh between your legs is.
#116 to #89 - anon (05/07/2013) [-]
Even a small amount of alcohol is bad for the body. If you can't enjoy yourself with a group of friends without needing to drink than you're just a boring person in general and need new friends.

I'm actually in college now... Maybe you should have paid better attention in your health class because than you'd know how bad alcohol is.
User avatar #119 to #116 - jazzspeaks (05/07/2013) [-]
Nope, sticking to my guns on this one. Nothing wrong with a beer with friends.

And yes, fine, alcohol is bad for you. So is fat, food preservatives, sun, salt, caffeine, and a whole mess of other things you probably consume each day. At some point or another, everything is bad for you. Now go wash those X's off the back of your hands and act your age.
#121 to #119 - anon (05/07/2013) [-]
I try to stay as healthy as possible. I actually take care of my body unlike most people. I exercise, eat right, all I drink is water in fact, no coffee, soda, nothing sugary like that. Just water. But it takes a lot less alcohol to damage the body than some of those things you listed.
User avatar #122 to #121 - jazzspeaks (05/08/2013) [-]
Well... I don't, and neither do a lot of people. Quit trying to tell others how to live their lives because yours is so apparently flawless.
User avatar #19 to #9 - cheatman (05/06/2013) [-]
There are two reasons you'd go to a party (knowing your friends are gonna drink) and not drink.

1) You're the designated driver.

2) You're the crusty eyed nerd who got dragged out of his house by friends because you play too much games.

If you're at the party and neither of these reasons are the reason you're not drinking then what the **** are you doing at the party!?

User avatar #31 to #19 - Crusader (05/06/2013) [-]
3 - You simply don't like to drink, you've seen what it does to people, especially people you are related to, and therefore, would prefer not to drink and you can enjoy a party without it
User avatar #114 to #31 - cheatman (05/07/2013) [-]
If you can go to a party and enjoy yourself without drink, then you are a true man, but if like most people who whine about it, go to a party and not drink and THEN not enjoy themselves, they've only really brough it upon themselves.

I used to drink, had some good times, but two occasions where I got my head kicked in by dickhead bouncers or me making a complete ass of myself made me decide to pack it in. I still have a pint when I'm out chilling with the lads, but I don't go out drinking on nights out or parties.
User avatar #27 to #19 - TheMather ONLINE (05/06/2013) [-]
There's also 3) That first bit of alcohol only makes you hypersensitive to taste, making you unable to bear the taste of any further alcohol.
I managed that a week ago. I was the one who paid for all the drinks, and the reason for the party was so that I could get properly drunk at least once more before my 19th birthday.
#23 to #19 - anon (05/06/2013) [-]
I go to a lot of parties, I just don't drink. I'm not that weird guy either standing in the corner silently judging everyone, I socialize with a lot of people. I talk to both friends and strangers. If someone offers me a drink I just say no thank you. I can have fun without needing to drink, if you can't enjoy yourself with a group of friends or at a party without needing to drink than you're just a boring person in general... and probably need new friends.

User avatar #52 to #50 - colonelhyde ONLINE (05/07/2013) [-]
I think browning out is the term for what happens before blacking out where you still do things but you cannot remember them. So after a certain point you think you stopped and passed out but you didn't.
#56 to #52 - rollinquads (05/07/2013) [-]
Coming from a college student who chooses not to drink, shut the hell up. Some people abuse it and use it as a crutch, but EVERYTHING is abused by someone. Simply because people use it to enjoy themselves doesn't make it a bad thing. Get over your stigma about it. Also, blacking out is when you still function and have no recollection of it because the part of your body that formulates memories (hippocampus) fails to function.
User avatar #58 to #56 - colonelhyde ONLINE (05/07/2013) [-]
When did i say i thought it was a bad thing. . . . did you reply to the wrong comment?

But not EVERYTHING damages your body as badly as alcohol does. You need a lot less alcohol than most things that are abused to do damage. It just isn't worth it. What makes it a bad thing is it's destroying their bodies.

What about those that can have fun at parties, but even more fun with a little alcohol in them? And those that can deal with their problems, but could be playing Drunk Halo instead?

I play Halo WAY better whilst drunk. I get negative Kill: death ratios sober, but I've gone 22:2 whilst drunk

Drinking is bad, or partying is bad, or drowning your sorrows is bad? You can ask all these questions, then you ask yourself, what the **** gives you the right to judge people?
#15 to #13 - anon (05/06/2013) [-]
Drinking and drowning your sorrows are bad, but there's nothing wrong with partying. If you can't enjoy yourself at a party without needing to drink than you're just a boring person in general. They deserve to be judged. I don't need to be anyone special to know that poisoning yourself and hiding from your problems is a bad thing to do. That's just common sense.

there's nothing wrong also with wanting to go out and drink with your friends. Partying isn't a daily thing for most people so when one comes along, why not drink. Drinking is fun and sociable, often it allows us to say the things that we wouldn't normally, maybe not always for the best but for me, it has done more good than bad. And who are you to judge how people deal with their problems man.

Posted prematurely. Wasn't done yet.
You can just go out with your friends without drinking. If you can't enjoy yourself with a group of friends without needing to drink than you're just a boring person in general and need to make some new friends. Why not drink? Because you're willingly ingesting a poison, what kind of a ******* idiot does that? Even a small amount of alcohol does damage to the body. It's just not worth it. So drinking changes who people are, why not work on not being a little antisocial **** ? They deserve to be judged, they're destroying their bodies.
User avatar #39 to #37 - AlexsusRakeus (05/06/2013) [-]
Your point about "even a small amount of alcohol does damage to you body" is just wrong. Alcohol can very easily be dealt with by the liver. Ever heard that a glass of Red wine a day is good for you? Last time I checked Red wine was alcoholic.

For every 1 kind of good thing it does there are 5 bad negative side affects. It's just not worth it.

1 - This is stale copypasta
2 - Alcohol is a poison
3 - Of course hiding it is a problem, hiding anything is a problem, it's no better or worse than hiding a bible, condoms, pot, or a god-damned kitten in your closet
4 - Of course feeling the need to drink is a problem, but just as often, people use alcohol as an accessory to the event, you can enjoy a bon fire without booze, but it is more fun with it, just like you can eat a salad with no dressing, but it is SOOOO much better with it.
5 - Everything is good in moderation, most doctors will even tell people to have a glass of wine every so often, have a beer on the weekends to relax, not to mention red wine is full of anti-oxidants and is often recommended to pregnant women (in small doses of course)

I don't know.
I mean, molestation is in it's basic form, simply unwanted touching.
Therefore, just like you can poke a child who keeps poking you in order to teach them that it is annoying, I suppose you can grope a child that gropes you in order to teach them that it's bad.

Out of 24 beers, that missed 3, which is a 87.5% success rate. Its not bad, thats a B+, but a regular bottle opener has a 100% percent success rate. I guess it depends on whether you prefer efficiency or accuracy.
