juggalotank (04/19/2013) [-] Wrong, anon. I know, because I am certified. CPR, when done correctly to a person who's heart is beating and who's lungs are functioning, can crack their sternum. Hell, it can still crack the sternum of a person who requires CPR. That is why there is the Good Samaritan Doctrine. Because, most likely, you will break ribs or fracture the sternum, or both.
Also, CPR has evolved to be chest compression only because forcing air into the lungs does not provide any more oxygen then the forced breathing caused by CPR. In fact, breathing air into someone's lungs can cause damage to the air sacs in said lungs, especially in the elderly or the sickly. Again, I know because I am CPR certified.
