I know this looks cool and everything, but this is an incredibly stupid. At least as far as I'm concerned

If I ever become suicidal, I will do flips at the edge of high buildings. If I live, then I try to live on. if not, well...

For parkour yes it is, for freerunning it's all part of the learning process though I would say you should practice on a less of a large drop.

What if he'd fell to his death, is that part of the learning process?

It is why I enjoy parkour more then freerunning. Freerunning is cool but not needed.

Isn't it the same thing? Just getting from point A to point B in the most spectacular fashion?

Parkour philosophy is different from freerunning. Parkour is not to be flashy and do tricks, many traceurs do, do freerunning and learn tricks at a gymnastic gymnasiums. Here is a good TED talk about parkour traning:

Essentially the main difference between parkour and freerunning is that parkour does not involve tricks and it has a different philisophy to freerunning. Both give great exercise.

NP. Don't know why people are so mad that I said that parkour and freerunning are different. I like both but I prefer the parkour philosophy over freerunning.
