While that may or may not be true, holograms are feasible. I don't remember exactly, but it's a sort of "lock and key" type thing.
It's something along the lines of projecting the opposite or inverse or something from different angles, then projecting the original into that.
Somehow it works.

A 'theory' is short for saying that it is not going to happen or be discovered in the near future due to limits in technology or knowledge.

It is possible its been possible for a while but there is a data processing and transmitting bottleneck a very large amount of bandwidth required to feed imagery to a volumetric display. For example, a standard 24 bits per pixel, 1024×768 resolution, flat/2D display requires about 135 MB/s to be sent to the display hardware to sustain 60 frames per second, whereas a 24 bits per voxel, 1024×768×1024 (1024 "pixel layers" in the Z axis) volumetric display would need to send about three orders of magnitude more (135 GB/s) to the display hardware to sustain 60 volumes per second.

fair enough, i never learned how it worked. i just liked the thought that we at least had it. i do believe that one day, we could have holograms projected into thin air, but that would be decades, if not centuries of work. and that all depends on the cost of it, and how effective it could be used, in any and all situations. but, i want dinner, so have a thumb for teaching me something and listening to my random rambles.

You ever been to Disney Land's Haunted Mansion ride? Look up a video on it if you can. The ghosts are pretty cool, though I can't tell how they project them XD.
