Kinda like gangnamstyle, if it goes global and everybody likes it, we get a little annoyed about it being everywhere. So by our instinct, we hate it. We want it burned down to a normal level, it doesn't deserve this much fame.

It's like when you found out what harlem shake was you listened to it a couple times and thought " oh, this is cool" and kept on looking at more videos of it.

Then the next day, your annoying friend is being all " CHECK THIS OUT, WOW HOLY SHIT HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?" and spams every minute of your day with it. And it's not only him, it's like your whole goddamn school or something is going apeshit about it. Well not everyone are such hateful people but I'd say the most of us are.

I personally am sick of this new popular trend going on here. I just want everything to be on a normal level like it used to.

Then people start doing covers of it (The Simpsons recently did one...It's horrible) and you basically see it everywhere you go: newspapers, tv shows, youtube (obviously, hundreds of covers of that thing is on there), Funnyjunk etc. It spreads like wildfire

I'll tell you why. My whole recommended section of Youtube was once all Harlem Shake videos, true story. Not only that, I decided to click on one to see if it was funny and I was on the iPhone Youtube App. The ad was a PepsiMax Harlem Shake for the Harlem Shake video I was about to watch, THAT is why I personally hate it.

I just cant stand how it sounds, otherwise theyre mostly funny.

Because when an inside joke is taken out of context by people who don't understand it, it will ruin the joke because it is socially redefined by those who don't understand it. True this is a video, but for the people who came up with it are appalled by what the world has took it too.

It's been played over and over again. It just got old. At first it was like, "Uh... What's happe- WHAT!? WHAT'S HAPPENING!" After several showings of the same thing the effect diminishes and gets annoying.

My answer is that I don't hate the harlem shake, it's just that on my tablet on youtube it fills up the whole page of most viewed, instead of the usual videos. It's just kind of irritating really.

That is exactly the same way I react, because every time I go on FJ after seeing something that I like (aka the Harlem Shake) suddenly one person hates the trend, and then everybody jumps on board the bandwagon. Seriously.... fuck off.

Well, it's just that some people, like me, don't find them funny at all. I've watched a few, but.. I just don't see the funny in it. The first one I watched, I thought ".. Well alright then.". After seeing it everywhere on youtube, in the comment sections (hey u guys should do the harlem shake even though you make gaming videos only!! xD"), and now on funnyjunk. And hey, I like the original Gangnam style.

And it's a bit annoying that people are so desperate to be part of something popular all the time. They both misuse and overuse it just to get attention. And a bunch of people are claiming to have made the original video, when they didn't. It's not the popularity that bothers me, it's the whole "hey let's do what everyone else is doing so we can be funny too" mentality.
