I thought it was due to the fact Poland was more rural so there was less chance of spreading the disease, and the people bathed more often.

Yeah, it was mainly because if the fact that they didn't have major trade routes and that most of the population lived far apart.

Poland still got hit with the later reappearances of the Plague, they just got lucky during the first big wave.

Ah. I know Milan stayed relatively safe because of the strict quarantine they had, but I wasn't too familiar with why Poland did. I know they cast out the Jews since they weren't getting infected as much so they got blamed for it, and they fled to Poland. Jews had better sanitation so always thought it was a combination of the rural landscape and better sanitation.

Yeah, even though 1/3 to 2/3 of the population died when it hit around 1400.
