If anyone's looking for a reason for this happening:
The balls have the same refractive index as water and so light doesn't reflect or change angle as its passing between the ball and the water, ergo, you can't see them
(And that's the only time ill get to use the word 'ergo')

But the term science encompasses physics, what you said is like saying that wasn't music that was rock and roll which implies that there is a clear difference between the two when in fact one is only a sub-category of the other.
