Sometimes the stereotype just reinforces itself. I grew up in a town of snooty white kids and Hispanic kids, not a single black family with a kid at any school i ever attended.

First day of college i make a single friend, he's black, and likes everything the same as me, no stereotype to be seen!.... And then he said "lets go to the cafeteria, i know they have Kool-Aid, and i'm hoping there's chicken today!"

It comes from the fact that historically black families have eatten the "cast off" parts of animals (chicken wings, pig intestines, a lot of organ meats) because they are cheaper, with black families having a lower historic income.

I work at KFC, and it's about 50/50 black/white.
Don't know about the Kool-aid or watermelon stereotypes thought.
