Or, you know... Reddit's there so people can share a funny picture or other piece of content with a massive fanbase that has a specific interest with said content. I only come here because the funny section is a mess over there; everything else they have locked down.

FJ has a serious problem with their content system. Users aren't obligated, let alone penalized for not sourcing their posts. They can then be accused of taking credit for others' work, and as a result we got fuckups like The Oatmeal debaucle. That's a lazy form of stealing. Seriously, that was not cool. FJ's userbase almost stripped that guy and many others from their talent and hard work; this is peoples' means of paying the bills we're toying with. Reddit got big because their site redirects their users to that page; that's why the site's a giant hub of links. Because of this all sorts of artists and personalities come to Reddit as a giant potent audience to expose themselves to.
You know why OC is so limited on this site? Users only get internet thumbs for their talent. That's it. That's terrible compared to FJ's competitors. Meanwhile someone could post that same stuff on DeviantArt and have at least some sort of potent monetization system up and running. They could set up their own site if they're that dedicated enough and potentially make even more. Point of fact FJ needs a different niche; you can only grow so big in the shadow of another man.

FJ's only starting to branch out from a 'funny-only' site, but it's next steps have already been treaded on by Reddit. Badly. There are more people subscribed to /r/mylittlepony than users on this site. FJ's fuckingscience may be cool and all, but Bill Nye himself has been caught interacting with people on /r/science time and again. Then there's that part where Obama himself hosted an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit.

Finally, stop whining about reposts. If it made it onto Front Page once, don't be surprised if it does it again.
